2024 UPDATE: We were so happy with Callen that we decided to remodel our main kitchen, primary bathroom and guest bathroom. Projects went as smoothly as the initial project highlighted below. Marie and Ryan did a great job again! Additionally we continue to have Callen replace a number of older windows/doors and are very happy with Marvin Infinity products and the professional installation. Great company, so glad we found them!

Exceeded Expectations - 5 Star Review.

My wife and I have built three homes and recently moved into a lake home that has been built out (from a small cottage) over many years. We hired Callen to help us design and renovate the oldest part of the house; 1200 square feet, entryway, kitchen, living room and bedroom. This area of the home had several vintage plumbing, electrical and roofing systems. Our designer Marie was extremely helpful in helping us develop a plan to support our vision of opening up the space (great lake views) and updating materials to match the rest of the house. There were several challenges with this and Marie was great at iterating ideas on 3D software so we could visualize our changes and build excitement about the potential of the project. Once we had the plan formalized the Callen team came in to confirm if the building structure supported our ideas, of course it did not (removing some walls and headers to open things up). The Callen team came up with a few work arounds and clearly communicated our options so that we could make a decision on how to proceed. Once the project plan was finalized Ryan was assigned as our project manager - lucky us! He is a very clear communicator and was on site almost every day. We always knew what was going on. No one likes strangers in their house but Ryan kept us informed regarding who was onsite and what was happening. All of the contractors were friendly and professional. Site was kept organized, safe and tidy. Once underway, Ryan identified some changes that could enhance the project and this allowed us the opportunity to improve the end result. Sure there were some delays and material issues but nothing unexpected (especially during Covid).

Now, regarding budget. They finished the work right on budget. Any changes were clearly communicated and any changes to budget were our decision. The contracting, billing and administration of the project was excellent.

Also: we also had Callen replace several of our older windows throughout the house. This work also exceeded expectations - great windows, fair price and the finish trim to match existing space was awesome.

From our first meeting, design and selection, demolition, and finished project Callen was first class. We made changes along the way and they still finished in the projected timeline they first presented. Communication from our designer Danni and project manager Ryan had us feeling very confident about our project. There was never a time that we reached out that we didn’t hear back from them. Our project turned out better than we could have imagined. We would recommend Callen to anyone looking to remodel their living space.

From the beginning to end, organized and knowledgeable

The Callen personal was very courteous and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions, and the job was done in a timely fashion. They cleaned everything to my satisfaction. I was very happy with the product.

I am very disappointed in my experience with Callen. As long as my existing issues remain unresolved, I will continue to actively tell people to avoid Callen.

I am left with little reason to believe that my windows were correctly installed. My new, top of the line fiberglass windows are draftier and allow more sound than the 33 year old, half broken vinyl windows they replaced.

My best guess is that the installation ran behind, and then the installation team rushed the job. Some issues Callen did resolve after I complained - such as screens that didn’t fit, forgetting to remove large blocks of insulating foam hanging off from the windows, and installing windows in the incorrect spot. In addition, Callen had a number of issues they didn’t resolve, including, but not limited to: Callen left damage to the outside and inside of the house where they removed windows and doors, left significant amounts of sharp cut metal, nails, and wood cuttings behind, and forgetting to clip in window screens.

When issues such as these were raised (and a request to have someone from another team review the first team’ work), they made me instead gather a list of issues for them to resolve. However, Callen’s project manager then failed to actually share that list (despite multiple requests to do so) with their teams on the ground to actually resolve said issues.

Overall, I am not confident in my installation, and cannot recommend Callen at this time.

Some additional notes:
-When a team member was badly hurt (cut hand), Callen advised him to not receive medical attention; which is very concerning.
-The windows themselves look appealing, and the stainers did and exceptional job.

Christoper did a wonderful job. He kept me informed through everything, and the guys who did the work were phenomenal.

I stood in the street and admired our new windows along with our neighbors who have contacted them to do theirs.

We hired Callen two times. We have recommended Callen to other people. They did a great job.

Yes, we would not hesitate to recommend Callen.

The windows and the work are great. Expensive, however, we feel we get what we pay for. We have been working with Callen for many years. We still have a few windows to replace, and we will go back to Callen.

All of the interactions I have had with Callen employees have always been very professional. I highly recommend Callen for your next project and I will not hesitate to use them for future projects.

They were very professional, and every step of the process was smooth and without any issues.

The guys were hard workers and knew what they were doing.

They were prompt and professional, extremely tidy, and diligent in their installation work.

The window products available at Callen are superior, and my only concern is the lack of oversight by any one as the project progressed. I think the one bad piece of wood used on my window could have been replaced before the varnish and paint was applied.

I don't routinely recommend any company, no matter how good they are. I think people need to make their own decisions. Furthermore, I could tell them the good things about this company, but I wouldn't tell people this is who they should go with. I have a historic home, and they worked well with me on that.

We were extremely happy right from the start. From the salesman to the installers, we were very satisfied and would definitely recommend them to others. In fact, we already have!

We will continue to do so. We tell people that they will not be disappointed when they choose CALLEN.
