In my 15 years of being a Certified Home Inspector I saw a lot of “BAD” basements and crawlspaces. However, the biggest issue was homeowners trying to find a REPUTABLE company to fix the problems the right way at a proper price.

I saw far too many basements and crawlspaces with improper repairs, leaving homeowners to have to pay twice or even a third time to repair something that should have been done right the very first time.

As I learned, the basement waterproofing and foundation repair industry is full of really shady companies. Many of these “Basement Waterproofing and Structural Repair” companies are just high pressure sales organizations with no interest in fixing the issues properly. They merely put a band aid on it and hope for the best.

The few reputable companies out there were usually booked way out and charged way too much…but they were busy because people want to do business with a craftsman, not a salesman.
