I would be hesitant to recommend a friend use NEDC. There are issues with communications between departments and understanding scope of project. Twice now I’ve had to argue about what is in scope of the project and both times it was not handled well. At first the miscommunications were frustrating, but now it is causing unanticipated costs. In the beginning there were issues with delayed communication to us and scope and cost were not clearly communicated. Right now I am having to argue about an item that was included in signed scope and plans, but am told they didn’t budget for it so I have to pay. It’s frustrating and I don’t find this company talks to me like an adult or views me as knowledgeable.

NEDC is a truly unique design-build firm. David is an absolute visionary and has designed an incredible process to help families build their dream homes in a thoughtful and respectful way. NEDC does what many other firms are unwilling to do — take time to get to know your family, push back on initial design ideas to ensure the true reason for a request is explored, provide transparency on pricing and process, and take pride and responsibility in their work. NEDC completely transformed our house into the perfect home for our family. Were there speed bumps along the way? Sure, when isn’t there when undertaking a complete home renovation while living on site. But every step of the way, NEDC was there for us and did their absolute best to make our dream home a reality— and they absolutely nailed it.

We thought the design process worked well. The team members were professional and very attentive to our thoughts and ideas.

We had an overall great experience with our large house renovation project. We love our new home and all the memories we'll make there. The process was great to make sure we were solving for what our family needs.

Communication - Everyone was very responsive and helped us understand what was happening or what questions we needed to answer. Especially when we got into the build stage, our project manager Mike Rockwell was very available and responsive to us.

New England Design and Construction went above and beyond in their project for me. It was discovered 8 years after the project was completed that something had a defect in it. (Something related to bathroom tiles and a steam shower.) Anyway, they came back and completely retiled my entire bathroom, FOR FREE. I can't even believe it. I will always recommend NEDC for their integrity, quality of work and belief in their product.

Additional Comments - I can't imagine another design and build firm that is as professional, reliable and talented as NEDC. The team is very personable, passionate and just plain nice. And the end result is outstanding. Our entire family (pets included) is extremely satisfied, now and for the future, with what they created for us.

Warranty - Even though i was well past my warranty end date, NEDC responded amazingly to my bathroom project. They were timely, responsive and went above and beyond. Best in the industry.

Mission Statement - The two rooms that we love the most in our house is our primary bedroom suite and our kitchen, both done by NEDC. The spaces are timeless in their design and decor and they are really designed to maximize the flow of our family.

I was a little concerned that the price seemed a little higher for a design build firm. But after working with NEDC and hearing from friends and family who had renovations done, i realize we totally made the right decision. Dave and his team at NEDC are the best in the business.

Mission Statement - We are most excited for the house to functionally work with us, particularly given that it is a small space every single square foot needs to be thought carefully and aligned to our family values. We love the privacy we will get with the semi-remodel of the master bathroom and adding on the kids bathroom in that location will allow for the kids to have their own space. Additionally, moving the laundry upstairs will help with the flow of family life and allow for our home to be sanctuary that makes life with little kids a little easier.

The design process was easy from start to finish. I felt like the design team really understood the needs of our family and the asthetic we were hoping to accomplish, and I never felt pressured to make a decision that I wasn't 100% sure about.

Understanding Scope Of Work - SketchUp model and Enscape rendering were very valuable, much easier to think through spaces and usability. Having only the plans or sketches along the way would have made it much harder to understand the scope of work.

Overall Experience - Overall the design experience was great. Drew was very good at listening and understanding the functional elements and aesthetic we were going for and made great recommendations and offered valuable suggestions or considerations as we made decisions. He was able to balance the fact that we had strong opinions on some things that we needed less help with and that there were things we had no idea about and needed more help. He helped us understand budget tradeoffs with the design so we could make informed decisions.
