Sela handled everything and made it so simple for me.
Probably unlikely that I will recommend SELA.
If you actually read the comments below you will see why this review is so poor. As a Sela customer, we were not treated well and do not believe that Sela actually cared about us as customers, (unlike their commercials). Sela's sales representative, that originally came over to win the job was good until the contract was signed, Then he disappeared and did not return my calls when the job was obviously not done right the first time in August of 2023. Example: siding was tore off and shingles missing resulting in our house being exposed to the weather and wildlife. Most of the problems we experienced over the past year are documented, with specificity and photographs, in a 49 page report by Structure Tech, who I hired to to do an objective inspection report to present to Sela. Our roof replacement failed inspection three times before it passed on May 30, 2024. We experienced damage to our house (including a health concern due to bats that got into our attic because of the poor installation), We also experienced numerous delays, excuses, and poor communication. My wife and I were not treated as if we mattered to Sela. When the roof corrections were made over a nine month period of time, Sela had their A team. show up. The A team crew, lead by Jose, were good. It's unfortunate that they were not involved in the initial installation. I estimate that Jose and the A team spent 50 to 70 hours in remedial work from September, 2023 to May 20, 2024. The fact that it took almost a year to get our roof done right sums up our experience. As a business owner myself, I would have gone out of my way to apologize and to compensate a customer for all of my time and effort to do the following: (1) Obtaining an independent inspection report; (2) getting bids to (i) repair the brick damage on the front of our house, (ii) repair our front door, (iii) hire a wildlife company due to exposure to bats getting into the attic because of the poor installation; (3) attending numerous meetings and telephone conferences; with Sela and others; (4) traveling to deliver and pick up our damaged front door to/ and rom the door repair business; and 5 painting the front of our entryway because of black asphalt marks made when Sela's subcontractors dropped the old shingles directly against our siding and front door. The actual costs to pay the other contractors to inspect and repair our home were eventually deducted from Sela's invoice. However, that did not come close to addressing all of the stress and time that I spent to chase after Sela to get the job completed so that it would pass inspection by the city on the fourth time; and get the independent inspection report, masonry, door, painting bat, landscaping repairs done. I expected Sela's quality and service would match what Sela represents in its advertising and commercials. Very disappointing.
Everything went as planned. It was great work by Sela Roofing & Remodeling. I have no complaints.
The color, aged copper, looks spectacular on our home.
The project was not done to what was communicated or expected. The communication around the project between the salesperson, the project manager, and the work team was terrible. Our complaints were not resolved.
2 years later shingles buckling all over. I specifically wanted a new drip edge installed, they charged us for this but never installed it. Asking about it now they claim what was on there was the only thing that could be installed. When the product on the house was made to be installed over drip edge. Lied several times saying they didn't charge the insurance company. When i called insurance, they said we should have gotten the drip edge installed, as we were charged for it. What they did was leave the old damaged and dented piece of trim on that was there when we bought the house, nailed directly to the fascia. This provides a direct route to the soffit with little to no waiting time. When they are asked about it now, they say they didn't install it because it isn't code.
Now, something that i pay for, does this have to be code for them to install it?
Aside from that it took them 2 years to finish the job, they left 3 mason jars full of nails all over the yard, sealed off all the fresh air intakes almost killing the furnace, unhooked bathroom vent and left it that way, later came back to remedy mold (this took them 6 months). They called us repeatedly for months about getting their check (insurance hadn't yet sent it because Sela didn't submit their final claim no complete the entire job).
Now im stuck with a job to get drip edge installed which as a line item costs about 200$ for all that we would need from a home depot etc. But contractors charge around 5500$ because of difficulty of installation when not doing at the same time as a roof or siding job.
inspect every nook and cranny before paying them. Check every line item on the insurance claim. They will try and say that the insurance company is wrong and they make this mistake all the time. I would not pay much attention to this, rather pay attention to where your dollars and cents were allocated and make sure those physical items or repairs are present. Don't hesitate to call your insurance company and ask them to help out with getting them to complete the contract they agreed to.
Big name - little conscience, no remorse. Save yourself.
Sela did a fantastic job. They did better than I expected. I am very happy with the workmanship. I would highly recommend them.
I wouldn't recommend the production manager.
Everything was great! We would definitely use them again!
Always been happy with Dan (Sales) and their work crews. They do an awesome job.
They are prompt and did a great job!
For the above reasons.
Sela Roofing & Remodeling, Inc is a terrible contractor, don't use them.
The installers were very professional and courteous. They did fine work.
Working with Sela Roofing was very smooth, they mad the whole process seamless. They also worked very well with my insurance company.
Work scheduled was not done in a timely manner. Work crews did a very good job once they here, my opinion, since final inspection was not completed.
Yes, but with reservation.
The workmanship was very good but the communication and organizing from Sela was very poor. I ended up organizing most of the project.
I would advise people to have Sela do one project only. I am doing a re-roof, siding and storm windows. It has been over a year and the project still goes on. The production and scheduling departments are inefficient. In good faith, I spent 8 months October to May with a tarp on a quarter of my roof, knowing Sela would get to re-roofing my home when the weather allowed, I'm disappointed they did not show the same faith in me, and delayed ordering my windows. And now here we are with winter coming on and I don't believe I will have any storm windows on my house. Not something I'm looking forward to. Winter in Minnesota without the adequate protection for my home. And, the Sela commercials that state" ONE call, that's all it took", really gets me steamed! Perhaps the "EVERY MONTH" has edited out.
I will never use them again and would never recommend this company to anyone.
The product seems good, it was the customer service that was lacking in my experience. That is my reason to rate them that way I did. It was not good customer service for me.
Poor Communication.
I've had three roofs done by Sela and I'm pleased with their work so I keep coming back to them.
They were very professional and did a beautiful job. They were very neat, clean, and hard workers.
