Spencer Mistelske started framing, roofing and siding houses at age 15 during summer breaks. Each summer he worked on a new trade, gaining substantial knowledge about many specific building trades. He worked for a general contractor to support himself through college, subsequently landing a corporate position after graduating.
He built two homes for himself – one in 1999 and another in 2002 – yet he felt something was “missing” while working in a corporate setting. Spencer started Turnkey Restoration in 2006, where he could fill the void that was missing – his passion for helping others. He began buying, selling and flipping homes, then found his true calling – helping others in their most stressful time – when they needed to restore their homes after catastrophic storm damage from wind, hail, lightning or driving rain.
It was the ultimate in matchmaking for two of Spencer’s loves: the construction industry and helping others in a time of need.
With 25 years of experience working in different construction trades, he was recently joined by his wife, Melanie, to expand their general contracting family business. With her history of working for multiple builders, she brings her interior and exterior building design and decorating expertise to Turnkey Restoration.

I really enjoyed my experience with Turnkey. Great communication, customer service, and willingness to explain. They really worked with me on things I thought were not up to par and found things that I didn’t even see. Very little debris left in the yard/landscaping after too which was nice. There was some confusion in the final billing that would have been easier to review with an itemized bill that has me waiting for a check to cover what I had to pay out of pocket. Other than that, I thought it was an almost flawless process. By far the best claim experience that I have had on all of my insurance jobs in the past. Highly recommend.

Co-owner Spencer and general manager Jake did an excellent job with our insurance claim for roof and gutters. They handled all the paperwork and any needed adjustments, and their sub-contractors did quality work.Complications on our end regarding whether to rebuild or tear down an old chimney slowed us down initially, but they assisted with tradesmen who gave good guidance. We determined that a future high-efficiency gas furnace vent line could be run horizontally through the wall, eliminating the need for a chimney. They therefore removed and capped the chimney, patched the roof, and brought in an HVAC expert to disconnect the old (oil) furnace from the chimney and the oil tank.Because Covid increased the demand for home improvements, they had a very full schedule last fall, but they still fit everything in and completed the work before the snows set in ahead of Christmas. The impending weather and tight margin caused some stress for us all, but they handled it in a professional manner. We would certainly give Jake a call for any future exterior work.

Schedule - Turnkey was on time and roofed the house in one day. With working from home it only disrupted our home for one day unlike others in the neighborhood who had roofs replaced. They had crews working on their roofs for 3 days.
