Fuquay-Varina Residence
Technology: Solar Hot Water System Upgrade System Type: Roof Mount Location: Fuquay-Varina, NC Overview: This client is one of the original pioneers for eco construction and solar technology in North Carolina. Her home is the first passive solar structure built in the state. It features a 30-year old solar hot water/space heating system using 1980s Sears Roebucks collectors. After three decades the system needed upgrading. Baker Renewable Energy evaluated it’s complex design and determined that the Sears collectors were still working properly. This is a testament to the technology’s simple design and longevity. BRE offered a solution that integrated a new 21st century hot water storage tank, heat exchanger, pump, and controller; all sourced from a Fuquay-Varina based supplier.
