After signing the contract and agreeing on an approximate start date, I never heard from anyone with further instructions, next steps etc. The target start date came and went with no communication from them whatsoever. It wasn't until after I reached out several times and contacted the original sales person that they began to take interest. It got to the point where I honestly no longer wanted to pursue this project and expressed my feelings to them. Next thing I know I'm getting calls from a Sales Manager who "wants to do what he can to keep my business" I gave him the opportunity to review the contract and come back to me with a suggestion on what he could do. His offer did not motivate me enough to want to move forward with the project. He seemed to understand and accept my feelings, and informed me that he would put through a request for refund on my behalf. At that point I began receiving text messages from my sales person wanting to dig deeper and understand why I was cancelling - it was abundantly clear he did not want to lose his commission. Interesting how all the sudden I had so many people's attention. He kept trying to convince me to reconsider, telling me how I was making a big mistake and that several months from now I will regret this decision, pricing like this would never be available again etc... essentially throwing everything he could at me to try and keep my business (aka, not lose his commission). I gave him one last opportunity telling him what it would take for me to move forward and he said I was being unreasonable, again saying how I would regret this decision. The whole thing honestly was very unprofessional on his part. I believe everything happens for a reason so perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. If this is an indication of how the company operates, I'm sure they won't be in business much longer.
Our salesman was outstanding and helped us all the way through the process; however, our project manager did not tend to the job well and there were countless delays
They know; there were issues in the progress.
If they fix my problem I would recommend them.
They did a great job
They provided great customer service, were good with their work, and did the job they said they would do. They were on time, and I am happy with the results.
Very organized and precise work
Project manager did a good job of getting back to us when we had questions. Overall, construction crews and work quality were excellent. There is still a water issue to be resolved. Waiting for a call to schedule the work to route the rainwater away from the covered area of the courtyard.
Big red flag: the contract was boilerplate and very light on specifics. The biggest mistakes were eventually resolved but the process was more painful than it should have been. I lost all trust in the project manager and canceled my plans to use this company again for additional work. I'd rather take my chances with a different company.
Sale person was very helpful and professional !!!
Allied Outdoor Solutions was flexible and accommodating with allowing me to make decision changes once the project had started.
I am not likely to recommend Allied Outdoor Solutions - Dallas because when I first met the workers, they were very friendly, seemed to be trustworthy, very engaged, easy to communicate with, and they promised to be involved from the beginning to the end. Once we decided to sign the contract, the communication was very sparse. I would send text messages and voicemails, and they wouldn't call me back. It was very difficult to know where we were in the project, and what was gonna happen next. This was especially true when we were finishing up. They said they were done and wanted to come by to do a final inspection, and wanted me to pay the final balance of what was owed. When they came out, I found a dozen problems that they hadn't dealt with, especially with the cleanup. There was a mess everywhere. The guy they sent out was very young, inexperienced, and didn't have good customer service skills. He wanted to argue with me about everything that I pointed out. For example, the shavings of metal on my patio that didn't get picked up. I explained that if we were to walk out on the patio barefoot, we would get a staple on our feet. He just made comments that I was being a little overly critical. For example, "thats not so bad, that would be easy for you to pick up." I didn't think it was my responsibility to do the cleanup after the workers left. The guy who they had come out at the end was annoying to work with because he doesn't know how to talk to customers.
There was a significant difference in the measurement done by our sales consultant and the project manager. The difference resulted in an additional $6000. The price of the project was already over our budget so we had to cancel. Very disappointing to have it fall through.
Awful, samples do not match to sales presentation, overpriced concrete which was poured on ground without any underlayment (gravel, sand or at least plastic)
We are having an issue with part of our pool. We called twice with no reply, they came in and looked at the part of the pool that was cracking and said they aren't responsiblefor it so I am extremely unhappy.
Scheduling process has too many conflicting times, they'd call me after the guys showed up.
The sales representative was knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately, the work crew for the job did not arrived on the first day scheduled for work. When the crew finally arrived the next day, the job was performed well and the workmanship was great. Communication from most of the company was great throughout, save the work crew that failed to inform anyone that they wouldn't arrive at the job site until well into the afternoon.
At this time I’m very disappointed with the work. The same week the slab was poured, it cracked.
I contacted and contracted with Allied to complete a 500+sqft patio, with carvestone and a gas firepit for $21,472 and immediately paid cash deposit. Was so excited as I was initially impressed with the professionalism of both the salesperson and the project manager. I am a firm believer in always giving folks the benefit of the doubt and exercised a three strike policy with AOS.....even threw in a 4th for good measure.
Red Flag#1: The 520 sqft patio concrete work was quoted at a cost of $6574. site was diagramed and walked multiple times with the salesperson. Upon visit from project manager - PM informed me that salesperson mis-calculated grades and would need an additional $1800 in materials. I was understandably taken back but did ask for a breakdown of concrete yardage initially assumed and what pm thought it would take to justify the delta. After explaining that the avg depth of the slab was 8 inches and the numbers simply didn't make sense the pm then informed me that he would just "swallow" the cost.......... because the breakout would be too complicated.......
Red Flag#2: 1 week later I get a voicemail from salesperson informing me that pm informed him I was asking about a small irrigation scope of work that I would need to pay for because we absolutely did not talk about that. I returned the call and reminded him of the email where he confirmed the irrigation scope of work was absolutely included in the contract attached for me to sign..... he admitted it slipped his mind and dropped the request. (email and voicemail available on request)
Red Flag#3: I receive a call that we need to pick out stone for the firepit - I clarified with salesperson which stones were available. I immediately chose from provided website and were informed that I couldn't use the stone for the firepit. I then chose another combination and was then informed that the 2nd stone wouldn't work without explanation. figuring there was a severe lack of communication my wife and I found a gas fire pit we liked on the Allied outdoor solutions gallery page and asked just to replicate that. I was then informed that they don't know what stone was used and don't have records......... Again - by this point I was as astonished as I hope the reader is. I have all of these emails for record available upon request. At this point I asked for what options I COULD use..... still haven't heard back.
Red Flag #4 - final straw: 4 weeks after initial work was supposed to begin pm kept delaying by 3 days saying contractor was just finishing up other work and would be there the next day....... I was promised the permit was in hand. After calling the city of McKinney I was informed no such permit had been applied for. I immediately called my salesperson and essentially begged for my cash deposit back and ensured I would not pursue any additional recourse other than the BBB report I am working with them on completing. He was wonderful - he apologized for all of the above and assured me all 4 red flags were strange flukes and AOS did refund my deposit.
I immediately had a competitor complete the project at a fraction of the cost with all of the materials that AOS said couldn't be used.
I Will not recommend this company to anyone. They use their big business sales tactics to make you feel like you are getting a high quality product/service for the premium that you are paying versus other small contractors, then when the work isn’t up to what they promised, the excuses start coming.
Scheduling was difficult due to the pandemic and project took a lot longer than anticipated. The work performed was excellent, but dealing with one of the project managers about our dogs was trying on my patience.
The work has not been done yet.
would not feel comfortable with recommending. We had too many small instances of problems with work schedule and lack of communications
Excellent staff, from original estimate, the workers themselves, and the supervisor checking the work and checking with us.
Additional Comments - We have already recommended them to our neighbors.
Allied Outdoor Solutions is excellent. I would use them again.
I will definitely use Allied again and highly recommend them.
Quality Of Workmanship - The crews were excellent craftsmen and left the concrete stone work looking remarkable.
Recognized Excellence - Craig Gaughan, the project consultant and Carlos Flores, the project manager, were highly professional and knowledgeable about the how the repairs would be done.
The work was very good and caring.
The project was kind of slow and it took a long time once it got started.
Completed carvestone project over my front walkway in an efficient manner, and it really looks great.
The work involved removing the old cement and installing a new cement driveway from the alleyway behind my house to the garage.
Weather caused a delay during the project but no blame was attached because of the time of year (Feb).
During removal of old cement a sprinkler water line was severed. The line was repaired as a matter of routine by the work crew.
If you get a bad Foreman, you will be sorry. Quality of work is good, but be prepared to give guidance to the workers.
Allied Outdoor Solutions did a nice job. The pour was done well.
I called them and they are nice. They could not get to me right away. The owner in Houston sent me a nice letter explaining that it would be a while. The letter read like I would get a really good price. When the man came and gave the data, they were willing to knock down a wall for me. The walkway was done in a way that I wanted. The style and width were great. The time set originally for the project was not met. No one came. They appoligized. I had to call back for a reschedule. They thought that they had already done the work. They came out and I did not know they were coming. I was home though. They did not know how to get to my porch. They did do a nice job covering the sewer area. I did have two sprinkler heads that got broken. I called my sprinkler people to fix it because it was getting hot. The man who came for the bill told me that they could have fixed it. They did pay me for it but wanted me to work with them first. I needed to get sprinklers repaired. The walkway was also put on top of one of my sprinkler heads. I had to get the sprinkler company back out to rerun the system. It was more money to correct. I think they really need to make sure no sprinklers are need their job site.
Great service and product
Things did not go as smoothly as I would have liked.
Sales, project manager, and actual crew performing the work do not communicate. Be prepared to be your own project manager, including scheduling the crew, when working with this company.
My overlay still looks fabulous! I have given away all of my catalogues to friends, old & new!
We had several phases to our project. One was enlargement of a concrete patio, another was the construction of a large patio cover and finally the application of Carvestone on the concrete surface. Overall, the work that was done was fantastic! We love how everything looks now, although there was some struggle with getting the patio to drain correctly. But Allied was responsive and tore up some concrete and redid it to make sure the water flowed away like it was supposed to. The patio cover is gorgeous and does not look like it was added 30+ years after the house was built. It blends seamlessly with the house, and I have the advice of the contractors to thank for that. The Carvestone is truly amazing. The way the workers (artists) apply this product is quite a process and they really know how to advise the homeowner as to colors, etc. It is so natural looking and beautiful!
Highest recommendation possible
They were wonderful.
Faulty workmanship.
There were a lot of issues with it, but they fixed them.
Did not take responsibility for rupturing gas line and blamed customer for gas line work done 40 years previously, as not meeting code.
During the sales process, they were very focused on our needs. After the sale (and they got a check), things pretty much fell apart when I needed some "warranty" work performed. Took 2 weeks and numerous follow-up calls to my sales rep. to get someone to help me. The warranty work performed was sub-par. In fact, I've called the Maintenance Head to complain and have the work re-done. Bottom line: sales process: A; after sales support: D. Buyer beware!
the team that did our deck was great. the team that did our pool remodel was terrible.
Nothing was how it was suppose to be. It was not what the salesman promised me, there was some kind of break in what they said they could do versus actually what they could do.
I would recommend them for the work, but warn them of the amount of time to expect the job to be finished.
Did not have the job done by this company, remove my address from all future mailings.
They poured some concrete for sidewalks, built a pergola, built an outdoor kitchen, and did carvestone over all the concrete. It turned out to be a beautiful place that we spend most of our outdoor time. They were easy to work with. I would give them an A rating.
