It was not a fabulous experience, some parts were fine, there was poor workmanship, lack of attention to detail. They did not finishing on time, and I would not recommend them.
The members of the team performing the work we exceptional - from drywall, to custom shelf building, electrical, etc. Those visiting the site and creating the product were all very professional and took pride in their work. The project management, estimates, and general communication were the biggest areas for improvement. This was largely due to our primary point of contact leaving to join a competitor after doing all of the upfront planning and coordination. While disappointing this was not directly related to Intown as people do come and go. The opportunity is the ability to transition work in a way that causes minimal disruption to the client and hands the work on to a person of equal or better ability which did not happen in our case. I spend considerable time correcting faulty pricing calculations, incorrect estimates, revising timelines and dependencies, meeting subcontractors during my working hours and providing them proper scope that was misrepresented by the new contractor. Over a month of micro-managing all of these components another lead was put in place to finish the work. In this case, he was very knowledgeable and professional given the situation he inherited. I'm sure there are ways I could improve as a client but I had high expectations seeing some of their previous work and the entire experience was more than just a set back here and there which is expected in a renovation project and more of a poorly managed project. Again, I can speak very highly of the people who came out to do the actual work. Very friendly and with so much time around the house they started to feel like part of our family.
We have used them twice now for two renovations and when it comes time to do our kitchen we will use them again. We have had a great experience.
If you are considering a bathroom renovation project, I highly encourage you to contact IRG. They were the first company we interviewed and as a result of a super first impression, we were so confident in IRG we did not interview anyone else. The process, craftsmanship and results were all top shelf. If/when we have future similar projects, IRG will be the first people I call.
I actively try to recommend Intown to friends that need renovations. To stay on budget and on the timeline while doing quality work is difficult to find these days. My dad grew up in the trades and his high standards were met as well. In his words, "they did not cut corners where they could have but took the extra time to do it right". At a minimum, give them a chance to bid on the work. You will not regret it. We love our updated home!
I would recommend them. They are trustworthy. Their customer service is great and so is the quality of work. Barry was a pleasure to work with.
From the first time we met Barry, we felt a sense of trust in him and that IRG would make the right choices to try to give us the end product we wanted and in the most thoughtful way. Our comfort with the inconveniences of any construction project was always uppermost in their minds and efforts. It has been a very pleasant experience to work with such talented, hardworking, intelligent, conscientious people. We love our new space!
We have used IRG 3 times, and have found Barry to be extremely professional, organized, and reliable. We have lived in the house for 2 of those renovations and in both cases, he was mindful of our family in all aspects of living through the construction.
We had our bathroom remodeling project done with Intown Renovations, and the overall experience was a positive one. Our project manager, Suzanne, was very responsible and accessible throughout the project. The quality of work is also excellent. They have great attitude and are very willing to correct any problems the client may have noticed. The drawback was we were not entirely pleased with a few subcontractors - our schedule was pushed out, and several subcontractors underbid on our project without thoroughly understanding what is needed. The work in general was still great though. We do wish the overall bid / schedule provided was closer to what it has ended up to be.
