Besides the workmanship the weekly updates were amazing. It may have cost a little more than other builders but, you get what you pay for. We didn’t have to deal with any township permits. Everything was taken care of by Kawartha Construction.

I found Kawartha Lake Construction by looking at the work they had done on a nearby cottage, and was impressed by the quality of their work. Their introduction meeting was very good, in that a number of people from the firm were present, and it was well organized. To the firm's credit they have talented people on board and it is easy to work with them, as they are willing to listen and then think through recommendations. As a result, I developed a good level of trust in them and it did not change at any point in the project. There were some small bumps along the way, but their recovery to them was quick, especially given the difficulties that Covid-19 presented at times. I am very satisfied with the results of their work. The only area I think they need to pay more attention to is ongoing communications, in that they know what is happening and why some things slow down, and it would be to their advantage to respond proactively.

Administration costs and sub trade markups are excessive.

I had a major issue at the cottage which needed to be fixed as soon as possible. I contacted Kawartha Lakes Construction and they responded quickly and an appointment was arranged. Geoff was extremely knowledgeable and professional at our first meeting. He explained how the process would work in detail and ensured that he would send a daily update with photos when the work began. Upon completion of the work, there was a hiccup that arose. I contacted Geoff and the problem was addressed immediately. He couldn't have been more professional. I would highly recommend Kawartha Lakes Construction.

This has been a challenging year for the trades so we weren't surprised that there were a few glitches in our project. Nonetheless, the team came through for us and we are pleased with the stability of our "perched on a steep hill" cottage addition.

Product/Design Selections Process - Mario made recommendations on materials to be used and showed samples of those materials. He also made sure we were involved in discussion with the trades so we were fully aware of what processes were going to take place. He made recommendations that allowed the trades to work more efficiently and make better use of space and time. Mario also followed through almost daily on progress and to make sure we understood what steps were being taken. Matt followed through on a daily basis updating us on progress and when trades would be arriving at the house - this was important because we lived in part of the house throughout the renovation.
