Recognized Excellence - The contractors they used were really nice.
Recognized Excellence - Chris, Holly, Rick,Kerri all very professional and very helpful.
Additional Comments - Peak is very open about the job, costs etc. I liked that the price is fixed and does not change.
Very professional in terms of business model, payment schedules, and communication. Very conscientious about communicating schedules work to meet my family’s needs. Efficiently deal with any deficiencies noted, even after “substantial completion.” Highly recommended based on the complete main floor renovation they completed.
Working with Peak was an absolute pleasure. We were probably a little more demanding than some customers, but Peak was always professional, knowledgeable, patient, and fantastic to work with. They made sure every detail was looked after, and always provided excellent advice. The quality of work and craftmanship was especially appreciated. We will be contacting them again when it's time to start our next project.
They need to set realistic expectations for the timeline. Our project took 3 times longer than it was initially scheduled to. They need to be more upfront about what is not included in the budget. It was not explained to us at the time of the contract signing that there was nothing in the budget for ground coverage from the fence line to the alley. The contract does state property line but I feel like this could be explained better.
Also, when the sod was being installed, Chris said that the budget did not cover a small section from the back porch to the sidewalk. The contact states “lay sod throughout the rear yard to the property line” so I don’t see why the budget calculation didn’t include this little section.
Many delays… Covid is partly to blame but maybe the ordering process could be changed so that materials are ordered earlier? There were issues of not enough materials being onsite which caused delays (sod, corner pieces for the porch stone columns etc).
Work needs to be inspected in a more timely way. I noticed an error in where the concrete molds were assembled about a week after it was done. I sent in an email to ask if this was a mistake and it was…. What if I hadn’t noticed this error? Would the concrete have been poured in the incorrect place?
Our garage ended up being smaller than what was designed and in the contract. Maybe in the future the location of utility lines should be determined at the design stage. We never received any money back from this but to be fair other items on the house where replaced without charge.
There was an issue with the piling placement for the front porch, or it was a measurement issue, or a design problem. We never felt like we received the whole story. The pilings were installed the first week of June and it wasn’t noticed until Sept when the front porch was finally being built that there was a problem. We were never told of the issue. We noticed it ourselves and had to ask the carpenter and Chris about it. This was not addressed in an upfront manner. The finished porch is a bit different than the design that we were shown but the worst part for us is that we felt like they were trying to sweep it under the rug.
Appreciate it is a difficult market for subtrades and Peak have selected a superior group of trades
We have dealt with Peak Improvements on 3 separate occasions now. They always deliver what they promise, do a good job and are pleasant to deal with. The job has been completed on time at the expected price on each occasion.
Despite the many issues arising from the pandemic and supply line delays, after an initial delay in the start date the work proceeded very well and within a reasonable timeframe. We were especially pleased with the initial design consultations with Kari Bazian, the appointment with Sam Birmingham at Weiss Fireplaces to select a fireplace, and with Jared Johannesen at Park Lighting to choose a light and fan. The contracting process followed by Peak is very good; you know exactly what will be done and how much it will cost. Chris Schellenberg at Peak kept us informed and our project manager Lorne Ockey was wonderful to work with. We are very pleased with the finished project and are enjoying the new den. It's everything we wished for.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Quality of work done was very good. We paid a lot of money for this reno and truly believe we got our money’s worth. We are certainly thankful for the opportunity to have this reno done for us by pros.
Recognized Excellence - No issues with any of the contractors, but Lorne was exceptional. Putting in long hours to keep on schedule and cleaning up each day.
I found their approach to commencing renovation work very thorough so that I understood what we were embarking on. Additionally, once the project started they kept me well informed on the work plan and answered my questions and/or concerns quickly and resolved any issues as needed. The project was completed on time and to our satisfaction!
From our first meeeting to the completion of the project they were forthright, transparent, guided us through our concerns and ensured a first rate positive memorable customer experience. Peak Improvments is: Customer focused and builds with trust and integrity.
After searching for contractors to do our complicated stair and entryway renovation, Peak Improvements was one of the very few who responded. From the start of our contact with Rick, the entire planning process was clear, honest and thorough. Timelines were clear and realistic, the "no surprises contract" was very good and adhered to. The planning phase was thorough which resulted in an excellent design which was very specific to our needs and the physical set up in our home. The designer selected by Peak Improvements interviewed us and developed a design that really reflected what we wanted with the renovation.
The construction phase was safe at all times, the craftsmen adhered to all Covid 19 guidelines. We were provided with a online timeline which kept us informed on a day to day basis of what was occurring on any specific day. The timeline however was flexible. The construction area was sealed from the rest of the house but access to our basement was maintained via 'zipper doors' in the barriers. Because of the nature of our renovation, access to the basement was limited on only 2 or 3 days which worked very well with our needs.
All of the contractors used by Peak Improvements were exceptionally skilled in the quality of the their work. They were all respectful and maintained a tidy and clear worksite. Chris, the project manager always kept us informed of all aspects of the renovation before, during and at the end.
The project was completed according to the initial plan and timeline. Chris and the contractors were able to respond in a timely manner to any questions, concerns or adjustments we needed during the construction at no additional cost to us.
Overall we are really pleased with the entire process of out stairs renovation by Peak Improvements. All the contractors on site were exceptionally skilled and provided outstanding craftsmanship in their area of expertise. We would consider them artisans in their own right.
Peak Improvement office staff were respectful, friendly, and efficient.
The finished renovation has met and indeed exceeded our needs and our initial expectations. We have lived with the renovation of our stairs and are really happy with how it turned out. They are safe, comfortable to use and the new entryway and the stairs themselves have added to the value and liveability of our home. Plus it looks really great!!!
Quality Of Workmanship - The workmanship was superb. The structural integrity of the new stairs and resulting changes in the foundation with essential supporting beams etc., were excellent. The renovation to the stairs and entryway 'feel' sound. The finished product - stairs, flooring railings, drywall, painting, all excellent. The flooring installer and the railing installer are excellent craftsmen - we regard them as artisans in their own right.
Safe - COVID - 19 Protocol was followed by all the parties involved.
Respectful - There were no problems with any of the people involved with the renovation.
Communication - Kept us informed as to any changes and/or any delays.
Recognized Excellence - Bryan Bergstrom, excellent to work with. As well as all the partners,
Areas Of Satisfaction - Timeline, and honesty
Additional Comments - I love the end product
We had great service and honesty with Peak and their contractors.
Recognized Excellence - From our initial meeting with Rick, he was honest and straightforward. Two things he said that resonated were, “don’t do the Reno if you’re not planning on staying” and “we’re not the cheapest nor the most expensive “. Lori was fun to work with. Super positive and fun. Wes made sure the day to day went smoothly.
It was a pleasure to work with Peak from initial contact to the end of the project especially since we had heard many horror stories that acquaintances had with other companies. We highly recommend Peak and would use them again.
Quality Of Workmanship - Every trade (tiling, cabinet install, granite install, electrical, plumbing) were very professional and cared about their work.
Areas Of Satisfaction - On time and on budget which is unusual for the industry it seems.
We are happy to recommend Peak Improvements. The process was thorough and transparent. Communication throughout the duration of the project was timely. They delivered what they said they would, for the price and timeline stipulated. We felt that we were listened to; they were very easy to work with. And of course, we’re very pleased with the quality of the work.
Recognized Excellence - Lori, our designer, was great - she really listened and considered our needs and style. Josh was helpful and accommodating. The subcontractors were also excellent. We enjoyed working with everyone.
Peak Improvements met and exceeded my expectations!
Types of work - They also remodeled our living space.
