It was such a pleasure working with Perez to plan out our projects and they worked hard to help us achieve our renovation goals and keep it within our budget. Certain details weren't tended. A $4,000.00 deposit was submitted for the work in OCTOBER 2023 and I was not informed until FEBRUARY 2024 that the SAME double window, installed in an adjacent room, was unavailable. I asked TWICE if the floor would be covered prior to demolition and was reassured twice that it would be. DISAPPOINTED, I had to ask demolition team to cover the floor, when I saw they were not going to do so, prior to demolition. I requested the room worked on be EXACTLY THE SAME as the adjacent room renovated by Perez previously.
Instead of researching the minwax or OTHER brand of 'rosewood' stain the ZAR brand was used that only offered a darker tint for the trim. Did 2% of renovation cost still cover design (details)?

This is our second major project with Perez Design/Build Remodel and we have been pleased with both projects!

Perez did a great job from the initial sales/site visit through review of the final punchlist. Perez was very patient with me as I made the big decision to proceed with a whole home remodel and also as I took the time to consider and make the many large and small decisions that were needed. Examples of these decisions are: where to remove and add walls and add a ceiling beam, the best HVAC system and where to put it, new attic insulation in the rafters, the locations, type, and brand of new windows and doors, the locations and types of ceiling lighting/light switches and electrical outlets, the type of flooring, trim, and cabinets, choices for a fancy glass, tile, and stone shower, a new electrical panel, an improved roof line for the front porch, and a new concrete front stoop and sidewalk. Since my house was mostly hand-built by my ancestors, it took a lot of workmanship to bring it up to modern standards and make it really nice.

Expertise

Expertise - Perez has great personnel with the expertise to complete a complicated project. The key people we engaged with included the Project Consultant (initial iterations on project scope and cost estimate), the Designer (floor plan/electrical), the Design Manager (cabinets/flooring/trim), the on-site Project Manager, and the Office Manager. All these people had incredible knowledge of their areas and were very professional.

Schedule

Schedule - Perez beat the agreed upon schedule. Perez personnel were on site almost every day; there were no big gaps in their focus on completing the project as efficiently and quickly as possible while still doing a high quality job.

Construction Quality

Construction Quality - One ding on the quality of materials and workmanship is that on some of the wood trim the top coat was allowed to pool such that it looks a little bit like a raised area of gray glue. This isn’t noticeable to anyone but me, but since I dust the trim, I noticed it. Given the massive amount of work on my whole home remodel, this is minor. Also, the internet connectivity wasn’t wired correctly and we ended up finishing that ourselves. The rest of the work was done extremely well.

Communication

Communication - Overall Perez did a great job communicating with me.

Problem Resolution

Problem Resolution - There were very few problems in my Perez remodel. At one point we had to pick a different version of white for my siding, as the prior choice was not available, but this was easily done. At the end we realized we needed a front stoop, since the porch was too high for just one step up, so Perez was able to sub-contract very quickly for a new sidewalk and stoop. It would have been really inconvenient for me to try to arrange this myself, and I probably would have had to wait months to get the work done.

Clean & Safe - The job site was kept clean and safe over the 19 weeks that construction was occurring.

Punchlist - Perez was flexible and let me start my own punchlist since I happened to be in town before they were ready to do their punchlist. Of course, since my list was done early, it had a lot of minor line items. Perez quickly completed all the items.

Areas Of Satisfaction - Perez exceeded my expectations in their structural engineering knowledge of how to add a ceiling beam to preserve structural integrity while removing parts of two walls. The two walls made all the existing rooms very small and hard to furnish and hard to use. We now have a large living room that is a much nicer gathering place. Perez was able to get my new floor pretty much flat, even though my home had been slowly built up over many decades, pushing out in 3 directions, and I was worried the floor would be a headache. Perez exceeded expectations in terms of design (cabinet/countertop/sink/shower materials/colors, trim material/color, and wall color); everything looks great. Perez met my expectations for the demolition of the existing walls, two chimneys, and a brick floor section in one room. Perez also did a good job with spray foam insulating my attic and switching from an oil furnace to a dual heat pump/propane HVAC, which they were able to install in the attic so that I have more square footage for the living space.

Additional Comments - I was pleasantly surprised that the construction phase was close to zero stress. All the details were ironed out prior to the work starting, and we were able to stay with that plan. The Project Manager was very capable and easy to talk to.

I have recommended them to several friends. The ones that used them are quite happy. They are not the least expensive, but they are very good at what they do.

The Perez team was great to work with. They were able to move walls around and retain old moldings, doors etc seamlessly. The new floor plan works very well and blends beautifully with the character of our 1930’s house. The quality of the work is excellent. Tracy patiently worked with my daughter revising choices of tiles and other details. Overall extremely pleased with the results.

Jay and Mike were a fun pair to have in the house during construction and they move at warp speed! Ray (plumber) is one of the nicest men I’ve ever met and also an expert in his field. There was quite a bit of electrical work to be done and Jordan often stayed late to finish on time. The final result met my expectations and beyond! My family and friends were thoroughly impressed and I have a beautiful home that I’m super proud of. I already have another project in mind and will surely be using Perez again!

Great company and wonderful customer service

There were several disappointing issues with the sitting room renovation but the final vision for the room was achieved.

Not having to worry about coordinating multiple contractors/companies on our own was a huge plus for us. We knew this job was going to be rather large and would require a lot of communication so having one single contact point for questions/updates was probably the biggest selling point besides the quality of work Perez is known for.

We basically showed up to the showroom when requested so we could pick out the materials and go over designs but that was as far as our "work" on this project went. Which was nice considering we barely have time for anything outside of our daily schedules.

The hardest part was the wait for the job to be completed (which was on schedule). We were incredibly eager to see the final result and couldn't have been happier when we did.

Very unorganized job

From start to finish, our bathroom remodeling project was awesome! Jason was right on top of things and all staff members and workers were outstanding. The final product is absolutely beautiful!

Yes. Everyone who sees our kitchen asks who did it. I always praise Perez and urge them to call if they are planning a remodel.

We hired Perez to remodel our master bathroom. They blew past the contracted start date without a phone call on the status. It took over 2 weeks and 5 unanswered phone/text messages to get a hold of the project manager to start the project. Pieces of wood with nails sticking out were left in a main walkway. Our drain pipe to our washing machine was cut without notifying us or our project manager. We unknowingly did laundry and gallons of dirty water drained onto our garage floor. We were never presented with a schedule, and I was told on 12/23 that I could paint over Christmas (12/24-12/26), and they would finish the job on 12/27. Materials were stored in our hallway and right outside our children's bedrooms for weeks without asking us for permission. They are age 3 and 6; they easily could have been hurt or the materials could have been damaged.

I have already recommend to friends to Perez. Our entire experience from planning/design to actual construction/clean up was spectacular.
