The quality of the home is good and the sales process was smooth. The one complaint I have is in Regent following through on a warranty item that involved water displacement away from the property, as any home owner knows this is becomes a large issue over time. The systems that are in place do not work effectively at the current time and could be easily fixed with some improved gutter work and erosion control where downspouts are placed.
My initial interest revealed very confusing information about what units were available and confusing recommendations from on-site agent.
Regent Homes TN is a nightmare for homeowners. From severe foundation issues to neighbors falling ill in their own homes, the problems run deep—literally. Shoddy construction, water intrusion, mold, and structural failures have turned what should be dream homes into money pits of stress and danger. And the worst part? Owner David McGowan couldn’t care less. Homeowners are met with silence, excuses, or outright dismissal, leaving them to deal with the devastating financial and health consequences alone.
It’s clear this isn’t an isolated issue—it’s a pattern of negligence and disregard for homeowner safety. A class-action lawsuit is not just warranted, it’s necessary. If you’re considering Regent Homes, run in the other direction.
The quality of the carpentry and painting are terrible.
Regent Homes have been great with everything
we expected when we bought our home. We are
very pleased and highly recommend them.
Jeff and LaRue Fields
We had such a positive experience with everything from sales to closing.
Regent Homes went above and beyond in completing our home when we had a total loss fire at our previous residence. They moved their timeline up to shorten our time in temporary housing. Besides building a beautiful new home for us, they are a caring company.
My experience was unique. I was told there was a leak 3 days before closing and had to postpone for an unknown amount of time. Had to take the liberty myself of ordering a moisture specialist to find out the home was full of mold. Regent however was willing to work with us to move us into a similar home as soon as possible. Was not a great first home buying experience however unforeseen events happen in construction and I cannot hold that against Regent. Everything worked out and and we love our new home.
I am currently still waiting on items to be fixed that were supposed to have been done when I closed. I closed 12/3/2024 and today is 1/6/2025. I have reached out over 5 times since then and received a response but no action.
We love our new townhome. The construction is solid and all the details were taken care of, inside and out. Regentonows how to build for Tennessee and they don't sacrifice quality.
This is a sweet neighborhood, and I love my condo. However, I live by a lake, and across the street from our section of the condos is a green area. It is a dumping ground for all kinds of trash. I watched a painter dump a large container of paint in the green area. When out walking my dog, the electrical box had wires coming out of it. All sorts of garbage are thrown out there. I'm simply asking them to please consider planting along the loop a row of either evergreens or some type of hardy trees. And plant some Nandina plants around the electrical box to block a very unsightly view. This would, as they grow, make it look like a settled neighborhood that is loved.
Clear communication, very good value, very professional folks.
Absolutely! If Regent Homes were building in Phase Three of Otter Creek, we absolutely would consider building again.
I like my house and would recommend it but also give them my experience with the builder so they can avoid the problem areas we encountered.
It is well-built for the price. It's a bang for the buck right now.
We are very happy with our new townhouse.
Still waiting for repairs to be done from initial walk through
Overall I love my home and I’m very grateful for it. However, there seems to be a few shortcuts they made that are very inconvenient. The thermostat is almost in the middle of the wall. Therefore, it makes it difficult to hang or place things in that area. The same thing with the light switch in the kitchen. It too is almost in the middle of the wall, making it hard to place furniture or pictures there. Also, the garbage disposal switch being underneath the sink instead of having it placed in the counter I have lived in several houses over the last few years, and never had a garbage disposal switch underneath the counter .
I would recommend Regent Homes because they treat their customers well.
The sales team was not responsive and shared inaccurate information, which caused issues with the deal.
Although there are some very nice features there are also some major design flaws and some very cheap products used. Two examples, doors opening into one another, (literally cannot open one door without closing another) and a shower enclosure so cheap I’m afraid it will vibrate off the hinges.

Their communication is a problem, and items that were on our walkthrough weren't completed in a timely manner.
The majority of our experience with regent has been very good. However, all of our dealings with Todd Haysmer have been extremely poor. We would buy with regent again in a neighborhood in which Todd Haysmer is not involved. If he was involved in any manner, it would be an absolute no for us.
the worst home builder i've ever dealt with among the 3 homes i've purchased in my life
My purchase was reasonably straightforward and free of complications.
We absolutely love the home. Alex our builder is amazing.
They never over promised and delivered a beautiful home before their deadline.
Overall very good quality product. Opportunities to clean up communications to buyers.
They were helpful throughout the entire process.
Poor quality of materials and work. Drywall cracks that are beyond regular settling of house, poorly done drywall (so many uneven walls, corners of walls round, etc), poor gutter install, many crooked cabinets, poor design of water heater placement and laundry room outlets/vents/water lines. Ceiling in multiple rooms has needed repair within a month of moving in. Ceiling also doesn’t appear to have been painted anywhere in house. Multiple painters have said it is just a coat of primer. Tile floors in bathrooms are uneven. Cracks in drywall concrete. Poor yard work (was told someone would aerate within two weeks of close, it’s been over a month) and poor drainage. Tons of sitting water.
Great experience with John G. He followed up on everything.
Excellent, Floorplan a Townhome- LOTS of storage...good utilization of space. Very well appointed with 'standard' finish selections.
The Project Manager/Superintendent was excellent.
I have owned at this point 3 Regent built homes. They get better & offer more in each new development they build.
I am happy with my home. The process to get here, the customer service, and the attention to detail were not good. Communication was not what it needed to be. Several things are still pending, and I am waiting for them to be resolved.
It was a great experience Everything was handled professionally. I am pleased.
The overall home quality leaves many doubts about care and concern over build quality, and seems to be that speed was prioritized over quality.
The neighborhood is awesome, quiet, and clean. I feel so comfortable and safe living here.
I am very pleased with everything! I like the attractive, well-kept Carothers Farms community, the low HOA fees, the quality of home construction, and your attentive employees!
Some of the finishes left things to be desired. The bottom of the doors weren't sanded, and the paint they used comes off as soon as you wash the wall. Some of the things were done cheaply for what we paid.
I am a second time Home Buyer with Regent Homes LLC and I purchased with Regent Homes LLC again as my Previous Experience was positive and I lived in my previous home for 13 years and experienced very few issues from the building process all the way to my closing date. I felt comfortable doing so again. My experience with my new home in Autumn View would not entice me to encourage others without fair warning. Nor would I purchase a Regent Home again at this point in my one month of ownership.
I feel other builders offer higher quality products. The paint and stain in our home was terribly done and throughout the building process the site was a mess. Trash everywhere. Lots of issues when we moved and still things undone.
Our builder Paul was outstanding. His attention to detail and willingness to work with us in several things that came up.
I would explore all other options before buying from Regent Homes LLC.
The builder was great, however the HOA company they utilize is not great.
Regent Homes were very helpful finding the right home, and have been accommodating for any issues that have risen.
I love the location and the people in this community. I feel ssfe here.
I feel safe here.
Joey was fantastic. I had a pregnant wife and three small kids. He was patient and fantastic. He was informative and kept us updated and answered all our questions. I do not think the process could have gone better.
My home was not finished when I moved in almost a month ago. Even though it’s well built, I had no hot water for 10 days. I had no air for the first 3 days. Building codes didn’t approve the home till two weeks after I moved in. I still don’t have gutter splash pans. It’s difficult to reach anyone about these problems.
Two major items that drive this score.
1: the quality of build is very average
2: lack of responsiveness to addressing warranty issues.
