They also encourage the use of BuilderTrend, an app that has the potential to streamline project management tasks and consolidate company-to-customer communications. We liked the app because it kept communications in one spot for us and for the Advance Design Studio folks. It probably reduces the need for change requests because of the enhanced communication which is a bonus for all. Design. Some projects are not straightforward. Our home is circa 1960-ish and has some creative features…. The team at Advance Design Studio is experienced enough to handle “interesting features” and recommend sensible solutions. We are so grateful for this talent. Flexibility. The supply chain is disrupted in many industries. Advance Design Studio is skilled at sourcing alternates and performed well under changing market conditions. Integrity. This is key. The team is respectful, hardworking, responsible, and patient. For example, during demolition (the loudest and most jarring part of a remodel), I had a high-pressure online presentation to deliver to senior executives. I was unable to find a safe, alternate location in time–this was during Covid lockdown and I was working from home. Our demo crew stopped the tear out for an hour so I could finish my presentation (which was successful, thank you very much). This type of respectful patience is incredibly important when you are building a long-term partnership with a design-build company. It may have delayed a short term schedule, but it has led to a long term trust, and I will not hesitate to work with this team again.

We always knew what was coming next, and who would be coming to our home. Ours was a pretty big project, at least for us, so there were many sub-contractors in and out. Safety & Cleanliness - I was actually expecting more construction dust!!! I really appreciate that ADS and all of the sub-contractors made sure to do everything they could to keep our spaces as clean as they did. We lived in our basement, and upstairs bedrooms, throughout the project, but had to pass through the construction zone to get to the refrigerator and other necessities. We were always able to do so safely and the tradesmen never made us feel like were in the way.

Timeline

Timeline - We had many change orders and some unavoidable material delays. Plus, Covid related delays with sub-contractors were unavoidable. Our project manager, Jeff, made sure to keep us "in the loop," so we really never felt like things were not on schedule. High quality work and results take time. And in our case, it was time very well spent!

Workmanship

Workmanship - Without a doubt, the workmanship was outstanding! When we start another project (and I am sure we will), we will want our same team!! However, there is not doubt in my mind that all of the designers and craftsmen at ADS are equally superior. The skill, creativity, and artistry of our team, and the results they produced in our home, was truly amazing. I never realized how much was involved! Thank goodness I remembered ADS from seeing them work on a home in my neighborhood years ago (from the outside). I am so glad that I made that initial informational appointment! We have no regrets and love all the work that was completed!

Warranty Satisfaction

Warranty Satisfaction - Absolutely! A two year warranty. WOW! Everything is perfect now, but there is no doubt in my mind that if anything comes up, ADS will be here to make it right.

Client Experience - This was definitely an exceptional experience in every way. From the moment we first met Claudia at that chilly January information session, through all of the planning, work and project completion, we felt informed, involved, and respected. We have never remodeled like this before and really had no idea about all that was involved and what to expect. This was a HUGE change to our home, with a large price tag, and that produces a lot of anxiety! All of the visuals that we were provided (drawings, renderings, timeline, etc.) allowed us to literally "see" our project coming together. The investment analysis helped us to know where all of our money was going and helped us to tweak our plans to fit our budget. Although, I kept adding/changing things as the project went on, so our budget ultimately had to grow.

Fears Or Concerns - Our biggest fears probably revolved around the scope of the work and the cost. We knew that due to the layout of our home, this would not be a simple kitchen redo... One room needed to flow into the next room. In the end, there was not a space on our first floor that was not touched. We were not sure how to make our tiny kitchen in the middle of the house work and function better. Claudia came in that first time and immediately put our minds at rest with her ideas. From that moment, we knew that we were in good hands and that everything could be accomplished (and then some)! Regarding the cost, as I said above, the investment analysis was invaluable to us. There were no hidden costs and we knew exactly what we needed to finance our project. Even when change orders occurred, we knew of the costs and agreed to them prior to the work going forward. Our initial fears were put to rest early in the process for sure.

Why ADS? - I initially learned of ADS because they completed a project in my neighborhood some years ago. I passed by that home every day that summer on my daily walk. I was so impressed with the professionalism that I saw, just from across the street. The vehicles, workers, and work spaces that I saw in the garage and on the driveway were so neat, tidy and professionally dressed, that I could not help but be impressed. I always remembered ADS, and checked out the website more than once over the years. When it was finally time for us to get our project going, the first place I looked was ADS. Like I said before, we were sold on ADS from our first meeting with Claudia. We knew that we needed to contract with a company that could handle all aspects of the project from design, through construction, to completion. We did not have the time or knowledge to be running around looking for materials or whatever else would be needed. ADS was equipped to handle everything for us! Another perk was that the design studio is so close to our West Dundee home. That made meetings and design choices so convenient and simple. For us, there simply was no other choice.

Delays were completely out of ADS control and were completely understandable. I must say that I initiated a lot of change orders over the course of the project. Every single one of them was met with understanding and a desire to make everything as I wanted. In addition, Claudia was so helpful to me with a multitude of design choices throughout our project. She seemed to know what I wanted before I even did much of the time. I know that Claudia, Jeff, and the entire team (including all of the players behind the scenes) exceeded our expectations because we really miss having them around our home on a regular basis!
