Regarding our 3-season sunroom, our installer John out of the Columbia SC office was amazing. Totally professional and courteous, John did an absolutely fantastic job. We were so impressed by his relentless attention to detail and 100 % focus on providing us a sunroom we will enjoy for many years. We would also like to recognize Richard Kale who was our main contact from Champion Windows of Greenville. Richard worked hard on keeping us informed of the status of our project throughout. It is evident that Richard is laserbeam focused on customer satisfaction, as he instilled confidence in the entire process. We were very impressed with Richard's caring and genuine way. Overall Champion Windows of Greenville has our overwhelming recommendation - excellent people and excellent products!
The initial measuring of the windows was incorrect. We waited for two months to get the windows and when they finally showed up 18 out of 19 windows were measured incorrectly. So we had to wait another two months to get our windows once we got our windows, there was sealant and glue all over the glass and we spent hours scraping if to clean the windows. On top of that one of the windows in the upper pain was cracked now we have to wait for that to be replaced.
I would recommend Champion windows
The product is too expensive. Everything from the poor quality door, poor screen material, and the aluminum panels used, could have been easily upgraded, at a much cheaper price, from Walmart.
James was a great salesperson who gained trust, and the installation duo of Vlad and Ryan proved able and knowledgeable and worthy of the hope and trust we gave when we made the decision to buy.
Installed the doors but clearly did not pay attention to detail. If my door is fully closed you cannot lock the deadbolt...
Too many unforced errors to readily recommend. See below.
One winner
Everything.
Went as planned.
From the ordering to the installation, but about 3 days after the installation, a spot appeared on the inside of the stationary sliding glass door and no one knows why. But I am getting a new one. But all in all, everything is turning up just fine. And I have already recommended jumping windows to several people
I had eight windows put into my house. They were gorgeous! I had Double pane windows put in. On one pane there was a chip on the glass and on another window on the inside of the paint was smudge marks so of course she couldn’t clean that up. I asked the installers if they could fix it before they left, they said they couldn’t And that the windows would have to be ordered. I had to sign off on the job which I didn’t care for since the job to me wasn’t finished. I’m now having to wait two more months to get new panes to have them installed.
I don't want to change I did not volunteer to do this review if you don't like it don't post it.this is how your pressure sale was. My
Great window product for our specific needs.
Wonderful
I Recommend Champion windows to anyone needing replacement windows.
Did not do what they originally said
Excellent
I was not made aware of the fact that I would no longer be able to hang blinds due to the thickness of the windows. The scheduler called to reschedule due to their timing and got an attitude with me about my next availability. I was told that my window security alarms would be put back on the windows but that was not the case. Contractors refused to put them back on.
The quality of the windows and the workmanship of the installation are excellent! I have to commend Anatoli and Vadim for their excellent attention to detail and craft. When I replace my other windows I want them on the job!
Very well pleased with the windows. They are beautiful. The installers very well mannered and respectful. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing windows
Professionalism and knowledge was top notch. Scheduling and installation was quick.
the process was a smooth project turned out looking good
Wrong size windows were originally ordered! After that, it just seem like you had my money and no one followed up properly
Would be a five star but didn't have them installed 2 weeks and a sash is broke and yet to hear from warranty.
We aren’t sure as to value for money, because we didn’t shop around.
I've already posted a positive review, with Google.
I would recommend champion windows of Greenville if they would make sure that what is in contract is what is done,
We like our new sun room, but there are still some issues that have not been resolved five weeks later.
Miserable 369-Day Experience with Champion Windows
by Katarina Parker
July 11th, 2022
JB of Champion Windows sat in our kitchen. He is charming; just the kind of person you want representing your company on Day One. Unfortunately, ALL THE OTHER DAYS THAT WILL FOLLOW are a sharp slope downhill at breakneck speed until you find yourself, more than a year later, with work still undone and a mounting collection of photographic evidence of damage done to the front AND back of your home and property. Oh, they offered to fix the trampled flowerbeds littered with screws and discarded material. I let it go. I was patient. I was understanding. These things happen. Then the cascade: the subcontractor [who presented like an ex-con confusingly aided by his surly teenager] rips our old front storm door off with so little skill or care that he peels all the surrounding paint off the molding, leaving a severely paint-stripped mess on our home. Based on my pleasant initial meeting with JB, this BAIT-AND-SWITCH level of incompetence was wholly unexpected and jarring. The worst part was that the worker didn't cop to the damage he caused, nor did he mention it to ANYONE, not even his handler. He damaged my home and then skulked away. I had to discover the mutilation on my own; not pleasant. JW was my "install manager" - a term Champion uses to describe the liaison between their company and the unprofessional, subcontracted, and no doubt cheap labor they employ to somehow make good on all their Big Promises at that first meeting. JW was my contact in the company - another nice guy - but his job is to palliate the customers, clean up the messes, and he tells you what you want to hear. His promises carry no weight or authority. He told us multiple times that a door had been ordered, only to find out it hadn't been. He offered to sand and re-paint our scarred molding, but at this point do I trust these people with MORE of my property? I'd rather do it myself; although it's a job I haven't gotten to yet, so now every time we enter the front door we're reminded yet again of how Champion abused our trust. Make an adjustment to our invoice to cover the damage and I’ll do it myself. Each time more damage occurred it was only obvious through my discovery – no one ever took responsibility for anything. Many months later I will tell JW that I want an adjustment made to my balance after all the damage to the house and yard and the ridiculous wait. He writes back that Champion doesn't give discounts. That's irrelevant because I didn't ask for a discount. I'm not asking for a FAVOR, I'm demanding COMPENSATION in the form of a balance adjustment. He kept offering to sand my front door molding and repaint it, but HOLY CRAP, do I trust THESE PEOPLE with any MORE of my property??????? I DON'T THINK SO. Give me the adjustment to the bill; I'LL make the repairs. They would not comply.
I thought I’d been thorough in my research for a contractor, but I made a fatal flaw. I looked at the Google stars and the number of reviews and concluded that Champion Windows was more than sufficient to do the work we wanted. What I should have done was pull up all the 1-star reviews and look at the clear pattern. I should have checked the Better Business Bureau (BBB) (where they have an F rating!) to see ALL the unhappy people that Champion has bilked of their deposits, only to leave the work undone, and/or hear tales of damage to property, as well as insincere promises by “Install Managers” and/or the SUBCONTRACTORS they use to do the work. Now that I’m in this predicament, it seems the evidence of Champion’s neglect, delaying tactics, and property damage is everywhere. They have been sued multiple times and the number of filed complaints against them at the BBB exceeds ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY.
JULY 11, 2022
We order a storm door (front) and a sliding glass door (back).
SEPTEMBER 21, 2022
Strange, raccoon-like 3rd party subcontractor & his son dismantle our old door, throwing parts of it into the aforementioned flowerbed, which the kid had already stepped into, damaging my caladiums. Stares at me through a gaping hole in the back of my home [removed sliding glass door] and tells me OOPS, they sent the wrong door. This one opens to the opposite side. Our previous door is already in pieces. Worker puts the new door on opening to the wrong side.
Worker goes to work on front storm door, tearing off paint on molding surrounding entire front door. Doesn’t mention it, leaves with keys to the door. JW tells me this worker has messed up multiple times; still, JW wants to give him another chance. NOT AT MY HOUSE, I tell him. He keeps the guy on for one more job which JW tells me he screwed up even worse than our house. JW fires him. Apparently his teenaged son had also previously been fired, but JW lobbied for him to get another chance. Still, the young man was also later fired (again) for lack of skills and damaging property. Frankly, I don't appreciate being a test case for some halfway-house skillset. Champion's policy is CLEARLY to hire the cheapest labor, hope people don't make a fuss, and if they do - just offer a most unsatisfactory bandaid.
Our floors were spotted badly with industrial adhesive which does not come off with any household cleaners, Mr. Clean sponges, or even alcohol. JW comes by with some kind of solvent wipes. They do not work either. It takes me HOURS on my hands and knees scrubbing to even make a dent. Ultimately, we just put a rug over the whole thing.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2022
JW calls and gives me the option to get on the schedule to flip the door they just put in OR order a brand new sliding door that is built to our original specs. I said, "If you're asking me which I want, I want a brand new door that is exactly what we initially ordered." He said that was just fine and would make arrangements with the warehouse. It wasn't long before he backpedaled AGAIN and said someone would be over to flip the current door. I was not happy, but he had removed the choice [deal] he originally gave me. When I wrote him about this later, JW wrote, "Champion Windows has certain processes in place that we cannot deviate from so that is why we had to attempt to flip the operational side of your door.” STAY TUNED: The door ultimately can NOT be flipped.
[It is important to note that JW was fired by Champion early in 2023, and due to his incredulous falsifying of orders and lying to customers he left the entire branch in a shambles, which they are still working to straighten out, according to current branch manager, initials SC.]
JANUARY 25, 2023
JW texts me, "I am still waiting on you [sic] sliding glass door to come in. I am expecting it to come in within the next 2 weeks." This morning I received a voice mail from "Debbie, the new Customer Support Specialist for Greenville" saying that she wanted to find out "where I stood" on our still open service. The service she is speaking of is a [at that time] 255-day old commitment by Champion to replace our old sliding glass door with a new one.
Additionally, the keys to our new front storm door never made it from the fired worker's pocket to JW or to us, so I have communication going back MONTHS where I have had to repeatedly ask for those keys. JW texted me at this time in January to say the keys are gone/lost and that he will have to install a new handle. He has the new handle with keys. Great! Can I have them please??
NOVEMBER 2, 2022
Champion sends out a guy who identifies himself as a manager, initial RD. He and his associate, SC, [later to become manager of Greenville branch] to their credit, worked for two hours to flip the doors so they would open to the proper side. As I wrote to JW when I updated him, "Despite his best efforts, RD ran into problem after problem and ultimately concluded that these new doors are not capable of being reversed, as the old ones were. He put in a ticket to this effect and said he was going to alert the warehouse/manufacturing that these doors were not switchable and that this should not be considered a part of their functionality. The locks do not line up, the door handle is not switchable without losing ergonomics and function, the screen door latch is now six inches lower, and the cheap plastic strips that line the door opening do not snap into place, flush with the moldings. There may be still other issues, but these were the ones I remember him sharing with me as I observed the install."
Very long story short, the doors he was attempting to swap were of a newer design than the ones used just prior to our delivery. The old design had fully functional swappable sliding doors, this new design does not - mainly regarding how the screen door and sliding door fit together - as well as the handle, which, when swapped does not clear the lock with room enough for a hand to grip the handle. You might think Champion would know their own products. They do not.
RD installed the door and screen to open to the proper side, but the remaining issues were and are still in play. The screen handle and lock and the sliding door handle are not functional.
March 22, 2023
255 days after contracting with Champion and two months since LYING JW texted me that the sliding door had been ordered and is arriving soon, I get the call from DP, Customer Service Specialist, saying THERE IS NO DOOR ON ORDER and confusing an already complicated situation by introducing some non-existent issue of my wanting "blinds" for the sliding door, and that THAT was the reason for the delay - they were waiting for me to decide. ???? IF it actually says that in the computer - BIG IF - then I absolutely and totally accuse SOMEONE AT CHAMPION of putting this false information in the computer to absolve themselves of responsibility for the delay. The word "blinds" was never mentioned by ANYONE, EVER in our dealings - and in fact I never even knew that was an option, although I hate blinds and would have declined that feature if it had ever come up - WHICH IT DIDN'T.
[Later the truth came out that JW was not fulfilling ANY ORDERS but was making promises to customers every day, all day long. This, according to the manager who fired him. What was this guy’s end game??? How long did he expect to remain employed with those tactics??]
THEN DP says that if I don't want blinds I owe [X] amount. Ummmm:
1st: I still have the wrong door.
2nd: The amount she quoted is absolutely NOT what all of our official contractual paperwork says – her quote is much more - so she's just dead wrong there according to all existing factual documentation.
So now Champion has fully and totally ruined YET ANOTHER of my days, making me frustrated, anxious, and very angry - FEELINGS I DO NOT ENJOY. Leaving SO MANY of your paying customers with these same feelings is a significant portion of the definition of unacceptable business practices. Where are your ethics, Champion Windows? Where is your heart? How do you justify dissatisfying so many people who work so hard for their money?
New branch manager, SC, enters the scene, pretending to be exasperated on my behalf like he's my new best friend, but fool me 80 times, Champion. Not falling for it this time.
April 14th, 2023
SC comes by to RE-ASSESS sliding door. Also to bring and install new front storm door handle and give us keys, a job which, as previously stated, was contracted for on July 11th, 2022. He shows up without door handle/keys. Says he has to RE-ORDER these. WHAT????
He RE-TAKES measurements of the upside-down sliding door screen so that he can [surprise!] RE-ORDER the proper one. As far as the actual sliding glass door, SC tells me he has one in the warehouse that was a wrong order for another customer (imagine that!), and that he will install that one so we won't have to wait another 8 weeks to have this very standard, non-custom sliding door made at the factory. Great, I say!
Two hours later SC calls and says the door he spoke of won't fit. He will have to order a whole new sliding door. The exact door we ordered July 11, 2022. If this entire situation weren’t so exasperating, draining, and depressing, it would be comedic.
May 30th
New Champion tech, B, coming to replace sliding door FINALLY. Screen door is still upside down.
While B was there working, some Champion rep in Pennsylvania calls me and says "Your new front storm door handle HAS JUST BEEN ORDERED." SC told us 2 months ago [April 14th, 2023] that he ordered this!!! MORE LYING.
June 2nd, 2023
B came by to install new screen door on sliding glass door. We FINALLY complete HALF of what we contracted for 327 DAYS AGO.
June 20th, 2023
B came by and replaced front storm door handle and left the keys. Handle is MUCH PUNIER than our own previous handle as well as the one Champion initially gave us without keys. Not satisfied.
July 14th, 2023
Champion invoices us via e-mail for the final balance on front storm door. We pay.
369 DAYS FROM START TO FINISH ON TWO STANDARD DOORS.
JB = James Burke
JW = Josh Whitaker
RD = Ryan Donahue
SC = Scott Conquest
DP = Debbie Peyton
B = Ben (a technician, last name unknown)
The builders were professional in every manner. They kept us up to date on every ... from the order to the final build and were ready to construct our Sunroom as soon as the supplies were delivered. GREAT JOB!
PS: All the neighbors love it.
I’m satisfied with the work.
I was very excited to have new windows installed! It was a hard financial commitment for me, but it’s worth it! Champion did a fantastic job and I have zero negative things to say about any of it!
Definitely am going to recommend to all friends and neighbors.
Very professional!!!
The service wasn't done the way it was supposed to. I had to call back to fix stuff with the windows. My experience with the windows was horrible. However, the doors were fine.
I would not recommend
First choice of window selections, related to the product quality, helping energy cost and view. Staff in helping select the product and installation. I really love the look of my windows.
Our new windows were ready in just a couple of weeks, were expertly installed in one day, and we're very satisfied with the entire process. Nice to see out the new windows now, with no fogging and no more drafts!
I WOULD NOT recommend Champion Windows of Greenville or Champion Windows, as a whole, to anyone. This company is in dire need of experienced management and quality crew members. Their salesperson sold me a product and a commitment of support and punctuality which they failed to meet during the installation process. Although their windows and doors, in my opinion, are above the norm, you are completely at their mercy during the installation process. My project consisted of installing 23 windows and 2 doors but due to poor measurements, miscommunication between Champion employees, missed appointments, lack of attention to detail and employees being fired and rehired this project dragged on for a year. To say this past year has been a nightmare is an understatement. If I had to do it again I would definitely go in a different direction.
I thought they did a good clean job. I thought they were very thorough.
I have called them twice and left messages, but they will not return my calls. I feel like they are more interested in selling windows than providing service.
Sale was great. Installation was not! No show installer, when installation took place took longer than told, missing ladder, broken faucet handle, uneven caulking.
They are a great company, and everything looks good.
It took more than one year to get our installation completed, we were given a broken window and no screens
The window installation workmanship was unacceptable, leaving glue, silicone and caulking on the windows which was nearly impossible to remove, with 6 different visits to clean the windows. The top round window caulking and seal was done improperly inside and outside, and had to be redone by a different work crew. The men showed up twice with no ladders, and couldn’t work & had to come back. They installed the windows and did not test them to see if they would work, fit properly, or go up and down without problems. The window quality of Champion Windows is excellent, but terrible installation of windows caused great concern about proper workmanship. That’s the reason for no future referrals. There was obvious work crew management problems, and a new installation manager was hired to correct future problems with the installation work crews.
All the employees of Champion were extremely courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Very good to deal with.
terrible communication, really terrible.
Installers were polite, but they severely damaged the interior trim on some of my windows then attempted to cover it up (poorly, I might add). Also, half of my windows are out of square. Two supervisors have come to my home to examine the issues, and both agreed that the installation was poorly done. However, no one has fixed the problems yet (as of two months after installation). I've given Champion several opportunities to fix the problems but feel as if I'm being given the runaround.
The sales portion was great. The purchase was great. The installation was not
I felt pressured to make a quick decision and couldn't make any changes.
Yes, I would recommend if someone asks.
