Ken and crew do good work, act in a professional manner and were responsive to our needs. Kens spends time making sure everyone understands the scope of work & what the expectations are so there are no misunderstandings. We would definitely recommend them.
We had a great experience working with Ken Coddington and his team at Coddington Construction! Project scope included replacement of all windows and doors, a new deck, installing Hardie siding and trim, and repainting the exterior. We contracted in September 2017 with a projected start in December. Before construction began, however, Ken learned that the new deck would require re-framing part of the house and extending the foundation, costing an extra $15-20k. We couldn't afford this, so worked with Ken's architect to redesign the deck. The updated plans were submitted to the Seattle DPD in January 2018 and approved in April. The construction team, led by Rick, got started right away, with 3-5 crew members onsite each day through May 2018. Rick is an exemplary project lead - he communicated updates frequently, offered cost-effective solutions to issues that arose, and shared valuable expertise based on years of experience. I recall a chat we had on the right "herringbone" pattern for the deck, from which I came away deeply impressed by the level of care Rick and his team took in their work. The painters who followed also did a fantastic job - they went to the trouble of covering our neighbors' cars before painting, which I appreciated. The house turned out beautifully and I would recommend Coddington wholeheartedly.
Happy with work. Team worked quickly and efficiently. Started and completed job without delays or interruptions minimizing time needed to complete projects and impact on normal daily activities. Clean up was good. Work crews were amiable, respectful of privacy and the neighbors. Involved me with problem solving and worked with me on decorative touches.
Coddington Construction has an outstanding team from the group that resided my home, the group that painted my home, and their office team.Ken Coddington is certainly a contractor that I would use again and highly recommend.
We resided & repainted the entire house, installed a new front door and a new window. Ken's bid wasn't the lowest but we decided to go with what looked like a reputable, experienced and honest company instead of saving a few bucks. We were not disappointed. Ken was great and communicated quickly via email. The team were real professionals and great to work with. Whenever we had questions, concerns or requests to change things, they were accommodated. The house looks great and we get compliments all the time.
Our siding looks beautiful, but as we are now painting the house, we are finding big gaps in the upstairs dormers. Where the siding meets the steep roof, the plywood sheeting is exposed where the siding does not over lap the flashing. There are also gaps where the top of the siding meets the bird blocks. When I had a concern about this on the back of the house, they came out twice to fix the broken bird blocks, but it never did close the gap.
Aside from their busy schedule, they came to my house and performed in a professional and competent manner getting the task done. The only delay was in waiting for the painters who were backed up on their work due to prolonged wet weather.
Recognized Excellence - Everyone was very nice and professional, from the women in the office, the construction crews, to the top of the pyramid, Mr. C.
Additional Comments - This job involved residing and painting of the Calvary Presbyterian Church manse house. As a Building and Grounds Elder, I was trying to find the best way to repair years of neglect on the exterior of an old building. I am confident that we will not have to do much to maintain the building's new Hardieplank siding for some time. It is always difficult to find people in the congregation to do big jobs. I realized that it was better to find professionals to do this kind of work, and Coddinton's team did a fine job for us. Everyone has commented on how nice the house looks, as we work to present a refreshed and renewed face to the community in our celebration of 125 years in Enumclaw..
We were happy with the work.
Excellent crews to work with
I had Coddington re-side the south side of my house and replace the kitchen door. The entire staff was courteous and professional. The price was probably higher than Bubba down the street, but it was done right, on time, and on budget.
They were very professional and kind. When the weather permitted, they got their work done.
Coddington Construction met or exceeded every expectation we had. They came in ahead of schedule, on time, and their workmanship was outstanding. We will use them for any future contracting needs, and will recommend them to anyone we know who needs a reliable contractor.
We were very impressed with Coddington Construction as they approached our job of replacing some siding in a very professsional and forthright manner. The job site was always very clean and no one was impacted by debris, blocking equipment, etc. This was very important to us as we are a condominium with 9 families living in our building. They were always polite and went out of their way to be helpful.
In general materials and quality of work was as promised and on schedule. Would likely use them again & refer them to others in need of such work.
From beginning to end, the staff and crew were professional. They arrived on time, cleaned up before they left and did a truly exceptional job re-siding and painting my house. I couldn't be happier with the result.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was not there for most of the project but overall we were satisfied.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied with communication. Ken, the owner, called us multiple times to keep us informed. The contractor that we worked with, his team was amazing and cleaned up the site everyday, and generally lovely people.
Recognized Excellence - I was like to recognize Ken and Michelle, as well as the whole team we worked with, they were amazing.
They did great work at a great price. They did what they said they were going to do and we're very happy with the quality of materials and workmanship.

(copied from my angie's list review)scope of work:Remove existing vinyl and original wood siding from a 1924 home.Install new wood windows (Marvin Ultimate Clad)Install new Hardie siding (lap + shingle)Install new soffit woodwork (beaded pine)Insulate attic and walls from exterior under sidingRepair minor breaches and issues with garage and trim woodPaint garage (without residing it) and all exterior trim, and window interiorAdd gutters and rain chains to front porchreview:Overall, the job went extremely well, and I highly recommend Coddington Construction.I was fortunate to have Ken, the owner, provide the initial consultation and bid. He was very patient, and helped me understand all the details and considerations. After having met with about 7 different contractors, Ken won my business, hands-down, with his helpfulness and professionalism. Even when we ran into a few (very) minor challenges during the project, Ken was friendly and patient.I'd read in the reviews that people were very happy with Mark and Michelle's team, so I asked if I could have them do the job. And they were also great. Very friendly, respectful, and took into account every detail of the work that was planned, and made adjustments as necessary. It was a pleasure saying hello to Mark, Michelle, Brandon, and Noah each day, and we actually kind of missed them when the job was done! The original consultation was April 28.Deposit was made on May 6 to commit to the work.We had some waiting time due to:* ordering the Color Plus Hardie material, * I decided to go with a higher end window (totally worth it!!!) which needed to be special ordered,* aligning with the team's schedule of projectsOriginal estimate was that work may begin 2nd week of June, but the above resulted in us starting work end of June. This was not a problem for us. The project was estimated to take 2 weeks to complete (plus additional few days for painters). In reality, it was about ~3.5 weeks to complete construction, but we had a delay after the first 3 weeks, due to running out of some of the siding material and they needed to come back for a few days. This ended up moving us back about 3-4 weeks while waiting for material and possibly for the team to have a break between jobs again, with the team completing the final bit of construction middle of August. The painters came maybe a couple of weeks later to do the trim.We then needed to wait one last time, due to schedule alignment for the teams, to get the interior of the windows painted (I think that most people are ordering vinyl or fiberglass windows these days, I can actually empathize that it must have been a big pain to need to come and paint wood windows). The project did take longer than anticipated from start-to-finish, but I am realistic enough to know that ideal timelines are rarely achievable due to practicalities. Ken never left us in a situation where our home was in any kind of disarray. The team cleaned up the entire site every day, so that there was not an accumulation of debris. And when they were finished, it was spotless. They got the windows installed quickly, and took great care to make sure the home was well sealed from the elements during that process. And when we did have the delay, it was at a point in the project where the impact on us was basically zero. Most importantly, the quality of this work was extremely high. The workers and the business were conscientious. Ken was very accommodating in coordinating details. And communications were timely. If I had it to do over again, I would make the exact same choice that I made.
Work started when scheduled and was completed on time. Quality workmanship thoughout. Job site was cleaned to better than original condition.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Workmanship, quality of solutions to problems found once siding removed, professionalism of staff and great followup by Ken.
Improvement Suggestion - This construction company is run the way I would run a business-professional team leaders, knowledgeable workers all backed up by a management team second to none.
Coddington Construction did an excellent job on replacing the siding on our house. It looks better now than it did when it was brand new!
This was a major investment for us and we could not be happier with the results. I would recommend this company very highly.
Areas Of Satisfaction - 100% satisfied with process and final results.
Recognized Excellence - All were punctual, professional, skilled, diligent and friendly. Could not ask for a better crew..
Mark, Michelle and Noah were an outstanding team. Courteous, always made sure they were doing what we wanted (we didn't have a straightforward house to reside), great craftsmanship and always left the outside in great shape at the end of each work day.
Recognized Excellence - Mark, Michelle and Noah!
Additional Comments - We appreciated the painters waiting and coming back to paint the front door due to the hardware being delayed several times.
It took multiple trips to come out. I understand needing time to dry, but there were multiple times I set on many of my days off only to wait hours after the scheduled time or to find out the worker was a no show. Work was fine. Schedule sucked. Work with many construction firms in the past and would not recommend.
