The professional level of the planning and the quality of the work.
It started off great with our designer who really helped us make choices and design the project. We are very happy with the design we came up with. I would say overall the quality of the work was good, but there were sooo many issues.
Mostly importantly, our house is actually uninhabitable right now. The wooden doors and trim (or something) are off-gassing VOCs at a high rate and have been for over 4 months now since the project has been completed. So we are not actually living in this house we paid to renovate. My wife has chronic illness and this was made clear to them beforehand; and we even asked about the VOC for the floor glue (which supposedly is 0 VOC), but somehow no one thought to bring up the crazy high VOC stain for the doors/trim. This has caused an immense amount of stress and additional expense for us.
- We signed because we loved the designer we worked with (Olivia) and so we had confidence someone would be there to advocate for us and make the project a success. We found out a couple weeks in advance of work starting that she was no longer at the company
- Our replacement point of contact (Scott) was only with the project for 2 weeks before he also left Dreammaker; so communication was a mess
- We ultimately felt like we were on the hook for catching every little issue vs. them doing any quality checks on their own
- We explicitly asked about dust and they said we were OK to leave things in the side rooms that weren't being worked on, including my office. However, my office got ridiculously dust bombed and I had to spend a day cleaning it
- We had to ask about the weight limit for our floating shelves in our kitchen - apparently they would have only supported 4 plates! (these were large shelves). I mean - how does that happen - I thought these folks worked in Kitchens? They are fixing it to make them more robust at least
- Various things are falling apart now; all of which they are fixing under warranty but shouldn't have been an issue in the first place
As mentioned, quality of the work itself was fine but just everything else has been so frustrating that I can't overlook it anymore.
Very likely to recommend based on quality of work, ease of working with the team. My only hesitation to recommend was the price, which was high.
Wonderful experience start to finish. Beautiful work, on time, professionally managed. Thank you.
All the individuals representing the company were very detailed and organized. They exhibited care and concern that all went as planned. They worked hard to make everything look great!
We would not be able to, in good conscience, recommend based on the experience we had.
We have used DreamMaker for two different projects and loved working with them. The work is top quality, they start when they say they will, and then complete the job quickly but definitely not in sloppy fashion. Their employees are great to work with, and we particularly love Ryen, who has been the on site carpenter for both jobs. He's wonderful!
Highly professional from design to install, including all specialized tradesmen. Considerable attention to all the important details. Raised many questions for us to consider that we would have overlooked until too late. Genuinely committed to customer happiness. Very happy with our new kitchen.
have had 3 big home projects (kitchen and 2 baths) and DM has done a terrific job with each. Great team, and each of the projects was completed on time. Great company!
DreamMaker did a great job with a full remodel of our bathroom. Shannon helped us maximize space and light in a small room, and Evan did a fantastic job implementing the design. We love our renovated bathroom!
I was quite pleased with the results. The workers were friendly and always cleaned up before they left for the day.
DreamMaker did an amazing remodel of our ensuite bathroom, redesigning it and moving things around (even a door and partial wall) to fit a soaker tub. Now it looks like a spa, and the bedroom and closet walls look like there was never any construction. Ryan did a great job and went above and beyond, not only creating a beautiful space from a drab one but also cleaning up every day, minimizing dust outside the work area, and making the process as non-intrusive as possible. His attention to detail is clear in the finished product. The project went smoothly and started and finished exactly on time. Everyone was friendly, professional, and communicative. We would recommend DreamMaker (which also did our kitchen remodel three years ago) to anyone for their quality work and customer service; they organize everything from design through construction including electrical, plumbing, and permits/inspections. We look forward to enjoying the space for years to come.
The team at DreamMaker was awesome. Olivia helped us take ideas and work through the zillion options to come up with a bathroom we love!
I've had two bathroom remodels through DreamMaker, and while much of the experiences were good, there were problems. In the first one, we opted for a shower, which surprised us by coming in with only a one inch lip between shower and the exterior floor. Apparently, this was suddenly "all that was available." We would not knowingly have purchased this. The shower curtain is now a big problem and has to be special ordered in a specific size, and still doesn't work quite right in there. It makes me irritated every time I look at it. Also, the very nice grab bar was not caulked in, and it wasn't long before rust and other accretions were gathering under the attachment. In the second bathroom, the back of the first toilet installed was a full four inches from the wall. It looked ridiculous. It was replaced, but why didn't they talk to me about any difficulty in getting a toilet to fit properly? The hand towel holder is not holding well, and has already been worked on but needs to be retightened with adhesive. Also, the window in the shower was never caulked in, nor the attachments for the grab bar. This is my daughter's house. I don't live there, so I don't always see problems right away.
Overall, the project went very smoothly, people were great to work with, and the outcome is stunning.
This is the review we left on Google Maps:
We contracted Dreammakers to remodel our Kitchen-Dining area, our two primary bathrooms and to convert a small porch to a mud room. They don't normally do something like the porch conversion, but it only involved adding one outside wall, so it wasn't major outdoor work.
We chose them from several bidders because our initial sales contact, Kami, sold us on the idea that while they may quote a larger dollar number, they would properly estimate the project and be able to stay within that budget. They held to this promise despite the fact that there was an unexpected change to the project when it was discovered that the house had previously had a joist bisected and needed to be repaired.
They initially scheduled a late spring date to start the project, which was 6-8 months after the initial project estimates. They wait to start the project until they have all their ducks in a row -- that is, when all materials and contractors are available and all inspections are ready to commence in order to minimize downtime. Again, this went all according to plan. The only hold-up in the primary construction came when some inspectors weren't available as promptly as originally expected.
Once they started construction, they completed the project exceptionally professionally. We had daily updates on progress from the site lead, Jerry. All of their workers, Matt, Nick, Damon & Austin were not only responsive to questions and willing to explain what they were doing, but did so in a friendly manner. They did all work while we lived in the remaining house, and they were very accommodating to our living conditions.
The primary construction, including the joist repair, was done promptly within a month. All work was well-coordinated among several sets of contractors. The work itself was done with exceptional attention to detail. Because of the aforementioned inspection delays, Dominick finished up the porch work the week after the rest of the construction. One shower door had to be custom designed to fit and so that installation took place a couple weeks later. There were 3-5 small details that needed to be cleaned up after the final porch construction, which project lead Gerry completed to our satisfaction and in a prompt manner around our busy schedules.
Overall the experience was outstanding and I'm not sure it could have been done any better. Every promise was kept.
This review was written several months after all the work was done and there have been no flaws or concerns in that time. We love our new house.
We were very pleased with our remodel.
DreamMaker made remodeling our bathroom very easy and manageable. They took care of the process from start to finish and we love our new bathroom.
Overall we had a good experience with DreamMaker.
From design with Shannon to the quality of work from Matt, the lead carpenter, DreamMaker Bath exceeded my expectations … professional, skilled and just nice people to work with and have in my home during the process of redoing two bathrooms.
We have had several projects with DreamMaker over the last several years. Marde was wonderful to work with as she helped turn my vague design ideas into a real plan. Rob did beautiful, precise work. The job started and completed on time, and the job site was cleaned nicely at the end of each day. It really takes some of the stress out of a remodeling job when you work with a company you can rely on!
A kitchen remodel involves lots of decisions, but DreamMaker walks you through them and makes it feel easy. They know the remodeling process inside and out, and my husband and I were grateful for their expertise. Everyone we worked with was knowledgeable, pleasant, and patient with our questions and requests. The work was of high quality, and we are very pleased with the results.
Guest bathroom remodel turned out great with designer Marde and carpenter Travis.
Great communication, prompt and excellent service.
DreamMaker--specifically Kami--made it easy to plan our project and understand our options. They handled most of the logistics, which kept the disruption of our space to a minimum.
