Would advise to discuss supervisory functions that GRDB will provide for the work, unless friend is adequately knowledgeable and plans to do that on his own.

We had a great experience with GRDB. They were in regular communication throughout the project, responsive to requests or questions, and kept a quick schedule. The work was finished within our quoted budget and we love our new space!

While we had many issues during the course of our project, the integrity and commitment of Gordon and his team to the competition of the work despite any setbacks was very evident and was greatly appreciated. This recent project was the 4th (fourth) project Gordon has performed on my house. The projects go back 10 and even 12 years. These include a backyard patio deck build-out, a bathroom remodel, and some limited carpentry work. The older projects have stood the test of time. The backyard patio build-out, which included a roof, has held up very well for 12 years of seasonal whether cycles and a couple of minor earthquakes. So, I would recommend Gordon. He may be a bit expensive, but I think one can rely on good quality work and service performed in a professional manner.

We would definitely refer friends, and have. We would tell them though, that in our experience the costs are always at the higher end of the range. At least that was our experience. Where a client like us is somewhat cost conscious, I would suggest better communication between Gordon and the Designer, or at least the Designer being more clear about the relative costs of some of our choices.

The end product was wonderful, but the "build" process was unnecessarily bumpy: 1. The deck construction appeared to maybe be the first time working with the product as the deck had a lower profile than the previous existing redwood deck and had a very wavy appearance due to the substructure needing to be different from the redwood - so the deck was rebuilt and looks great, but we were surprised at the apparent lack of experience. 2. There could have been better coordination between the trades and GRDB - I can't remember which it was, but someone showed up to do work, on the fireplace wall, but it wasn't at that stage yet. 3. The kitchen corner cabinet design was an issue and when I asked about redesigning it was told it would be "prohibitively expensive because construction had already begun". That set a bad tone. HOWEVER, the cabinet got rebuilt and is perfect. 4. The stacked stone/cabinet installation did not follow the measured drawing on the design - it looks fine, but we wonder how did that happen? and on a larger project that could have major implications. 5, Co-construct computer program is very helpful - just needs to be kept current to be useful.

I am and will continue to be a repeat customer! Just delighted with the people, the process and results. Absolutely wonderful!

The design process for the technology is a too big. Our project was small. They worked with the vendor when things went wrong. I do not think the value is there though.

I would highly recommend Gordon Reese Design Build to others. During a time when contractors were in high demand and didn't even want to pick up the phone, I heard many horror stories from friends and family about jobs gone wrong. GRDB responded quickly to our inquiry, was responsive to all our questions, and got the job started the very business day after we signed the contract. The job was almost precisely on schedule (only held up by lack of availability of one door that was a selection item added to help with inspection), and the crew was absolutely fantastic. GRDB might not bid the lowest price you can find, but you can be sure that the job (as scoped) will be completed efficiently and with high quality. You get what you pay for!

Working with Gordon and his team has been a dream. The level of personal attention, collaboration and communication has made this a super easy and fun process. I love how friendly they always are, including the project manager, coordinator and the friendly people communicating effectively. They work together with you on certain issues that are spotted throughout the project. You feel like the project is in the proper hands. The owner is largely involved and some of the instructions were given by him directly, so everyone knows what to do. I think they even keep the timeline in my expectations. They did the project much faster with considerable and nice quality, and also we had a special health need, which requires eco-friendly material to be used and they were able to facilitate getting the healthiest material that we need. They were good at spotting issues on site, like water leaking. Also, most of their subcontractors are pretty nice. The painter, Chris, is a perfectionist and he wouldn't let any detail go.

We had good experience working with their team. They were able to cover everything from design through constriction.
