I called for an emergency service call for ice buildup on a tenant's roof on Saturday 1/25/25. I actually spoke with someone on Saturday and they were going to try to get there on Monday 1/27/25, they said no promises but in 72 hours. It took me calling to remind them to get there. They finally showed up on 2/4/25. By the time they got there, the ice was thick and damaged a window and was charged $710.00 tax included. I was most disappointed in the time it took them to get there when I was told at latest 72 hours.
This company should be ashamed.
Things got off to a bad start when a huge dump truck dropped a dumpster on my freshly paved driveway after I very specifically said not to put anything there. The work crew, who were supposed to start about 9-10AM, showed up around 6AM and started blasting away on the siding, waking up the whole block. The crew were not even wearing Graves' uniforms; they were wearing red and white shirts with a nonexistent company name written on it, something like "Best Siding and Gutters LLC". The phone number stamped on their shabby truck was a 347 area code, which is New York City. Note, I never hired nor approved of any such company to do anything.
The crew was hasty, sloppy, and wasteful; they were in a big hurry to get done. Even though the managers assured me "this is a 1-2 day job, tops" and told me "we have extra materials" it didn't matter. The crew worked about 12 hours straight for day 1 until they out of siding. My neighbors were shocked to see them cut a small piece off 10 foot siding boards, then throw the other 9.9 feet away. At the end of day one, they simply vanished. The house sat half naked for weeks with the gutters detached. The gutters which by the way, the crew damaged, crushed, and broke during removal/re-installation. Almost every bracket/bolt/screw was lost. We had torrential rains during the weeks they left me without gutters, and my basement started getting moldy when it never had mold since day 1. To say nothing of the fact the crew left huge boxes, long pieces of trim, and tons of other boxes all over my front and back lawn, causing a ton of dead spots.
I can't begin to list the amount of shoddy, low quality work that I had to call out. Instead of replacing an old wooden step per the contract, the crew bizarrely just wrapped it in aluminum. That door opened once, and could not close again because the aluminum kept popping up. Then they broke a rear porch lamp. Then they dragged heavy concrete steps across the brand new back patio
Then, the whole project got delayed for multiple weeks. Excuses started flying. They tried blaming the usual tired stories about shortages, despite there being no COVID lockdowns for over a year. The amount of time I lost from work to babysit and keep calling out the endless mistakes was insane and I shudder to think what would have happened if I wasn't so on top of everything.
When I called Barry's Best Gutters to come repair the damage they were horrified at how badly the gutter system was butchered and had to charge me a pretty penny to fix everything.
After repeatedly emailing to say "please let's keep everything in writing" they decide to call me. When I refused the call, they threatened me via txt and USPS with liens, collection agencies, and credit damage. Side note, that's a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Very quick, efficient and clean. Excellent quality.
Quality service at a reasonable price !
Graves was able to come in and fix a leak coming in from a pipe in our roof. They were done quickly and took pictures to share, which I appreciated.
They also installed gutter guards on our new home to match the existing gutters.
It was weather-related and not their fault, but it was tricky because of the weather for Graves Bros. Home Improvement Co. to keep up with the original schedule. We are pleased with the work and their professionalism. Graves Bros. Home Improvement Co. did wonderful cleanup, explained everything, and I would recommend them.
My son had his house completely sided. They put a front door also. I paid for that. They did an excellent job. I had them come over to my house with a list for like six different repairs. I haven an appointment scheduled next week. That will be the seventh one. The repairman got sick twice. One time it was raining. They came another time while it was raining and they left. There were five items the last time they came out. He did four of them and forgot the last one. I know mistakes happen. I called to get them back out and they put me off for like two weeks. It's unacceptable. It would only be a 20 minute job. I asked to talk to a supervisor. He was very nice and said he would see about moving the appointment up. He said there would be no charge and he would try to reduce the entire bill. I haven't heard anything since then. It's kind of unacceptable.
Fast and hard working and prompt.
Richard was extremely professional and pleasant.
Would strongly recommend!
Work was completed in a professional and timely manner
They had a fast and quick service. They were wonderful.
After work was completed I saw the downspout was placed right next to central air unit. I immediately called them, sent pictures of water draining right into unit, and was promised they'd come back within 2 days and correct it. Well, that was 2 months ago- several calls later and I had to have someone else come and add an extension. I will not recommend this company because once paid and work is done they don't want to know anything.
THE WORST. This has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with a construction company. We originally contacted Graves in April 2024 about a leaky window. They said someone would be out and fix the window in a day-without even seeing it. Naturally, the guy came out and realized we had 2 leaky windows, and he could not do the work. Next they sent Michael Goetz, the estimator out to assess the damage. We reviewed the damage to the first story window, which was damaged from a leak on the 2nd story window. We discussed possible rot damage underneath and the process to fix it. He measured the windows. He then texted me to Re-Measure the windows and sent it to him after he left. Time had passed and I assumed the windows were ordered. One was custom, and they came out 2 more times to measure! We are now into JUNE with very little communication and no window order placed. Scheduling was last minute via text or call. Literally the day before they would call to come out. We waited until AUGUST. The windows were finally ready. Jessie-the scheduler, texted me in the afternoon to see if they could come out the next day to install-during hurricane Debbie. Seriously? We finally picked a date that worked, in August 15th. What was supposed to be a 1 day project, was a 4 day project. As soon as they started working on the windows, they noticed rot on the wood underneath. All they would do was replace the rot around the windows' (which they charged us $1000 extra for), and I called Mike to get him to schedule them to remove the siding in between the 2 windows and replace that wood as well. He called me back saying that would be more money, but never schedule the work. I texted Jessie to confirm who was coming back out and when, and if they were indeed going to take care of the additional rotted wood that Mike was supposed to schedule. She said yes, they were coming out to finish the windows as well as remove siding and replace rotted wood-which did not happen. Later she admitted she did not fully read my text and misunderstood what I was asking. Seriously? When they replaced the upstairs custom bedroom window, they left a huge mess of dust all over my sons room-his bed, computer, keyboard, EVERYTHING. I finally asked Jessie for something in writing from Mike about coming out to do the siding and rotted wood-no response. From either of them. So, they came out yesterday to finish the custom window and caulk. I signed off on the job because at this point I can't deal with them any longer. I am not thrilled with the way the custom window looks on the outside either. For over $8000, I expected more. Now we still need to find a contractor to come out to take care of the remainder of the rotted wood under the siding. I am beyond disappointed and upset. Yet, I feel no one from the company will reach out to me to address this situation.
The roof was completed in one day and the crew cleaned everything up
The do good work in the field but the communications between their sales rep to the project managers to the field labor is not what it needs to be, to say the least.
Getting the Sales rep to give an initial quote was timely, but I had to ask 4 additional times for them to finally tell me they didn't want to quote additional work because it included "carpentry work" (framing modifications to add a storm door).
Then, when they didn't properly instruct their field crew to do the do a 24 sq. ft. section of siding on a 'kick-wall', the salesman insisted it wasn't estimated to be done (it's in the middle of the "side of the house" where the siding was being replaced" and he told me (in writing) that seeing I'm in the construction industry "I should know better to read the proposal very closely". It was only after I told him to speak to the project manager, who had agreed it was to be done, did he finally come back apologetically and said "it was in my estimate" all along.
Again - no fault of the field work done, they were on-time, courteous, quick and did quality work.
customer service was top notch!!
They did a beautiful job on roof, but the gutters have problems.
They did an excellent job, at a fair price, and the communication was outstanding.
Great experience, great work and affordable.
I had an excellent experience with the Graves Brothers. The work was completed only a couple weeks after getting the estimate. The job was done well and I am very happy with the overall result!
I am likely to recommend Graves Bros. Home Improvement Co. to a friend because they provide good service and quality of work.
The siding installation team was skilled and completed the work quickly.
The job could have been completed in the first trip. However, three pieces of vinyl siding were not available in the truck, so they had to return. I ended up paying twice for labor. The workmanship was fine, but again, could have been completed in the first trip.
Absolutely! We are very happy with our siding. We would definitely recommend them to friends and family!
