The employees actually doing the work are great. The individuals managing the process don't even deserve one star. They don't meet deadlines, and it's difficult to get work completed. I've seen there was always an excuse blaming someone else rather than a solution that just solved the problem.
My experience with this company was terrible. I felt pressured by my insurance company to use their "Blue Ribbon Service" but in hindsight am so sorry I did. Their communication was awful. I kept asking questions on what to expect, what the process was, etc., and they wouldn't give me straightforward answers. They gave little or no notice of when they would appear and sometimes said they would come and never did. The workmen were surly, noncommunicative, and one of the project managers was outright rude. They did a lot of unnecessary damage, gouging molding when tearing up flooring and by carelessly tearing away heavy tape, stapling plastic to walls, etc. Their makeshift dryer vents tore lose a number of times requiring weeks of additional drying time. They inadequately sealed the work area so that a mold inspection had to be delayed by an additional week. When they finally supplied the estimate that I had asked for weeks earlier, I saw that they were going to use substandard materials and yet were going to overcharge the insurance company for other items (almost $500 for removing and resetting waterheater; $ for resetting washer/dryer, which I can easily do myself). After months of this substandard service, I finally opted for an insurance payout, and hired my own contractors to finish the work.
They were really helpful and explained a lot of stuff.
They were professional and attentive. I had a few issues during the process with the scheduling, but they tried their best to accommodate me. The final quality can be improved upon.
Great Western did an excellent job of communicating throughout the process. Everybody who came on site was professional, courteous, and respectful. The project was very well managed.
Good group of guys to work with.
The only thing I hesitate about is that they came out of Oregon City and they wouldn't be up there to recommend. If I lived up there I would recommend them.
Great Western Restoration & Remodeling did such poor work on my home, as a union carpenter it makes me wonder the path of call backs and shoddy work that they have left in their wake, for people who are either unable, unwilling or are not knowledgeable enough to go and over see the work for themselves. Leaving these people to work on your house without direct supervision from a third party would be a mistake. Their work was so bad the Allsate contractor over site had to come and view their work because of the amount of complaints that I had to my insurance company. It amazes me that they are even a premier contractor for Allstate insurance in the Portland area.
Area For Improvement - Every thing exceeded my expectations
A customer should not have to know codes to get the job done right. I had to contact alacrity in order to get any results.
Poor quality, poor communication, poor customer service. They detached our heating ducts and did not tell us.
This was my rental home they did the work on, and I was not available to stay in contact with them in person, but was kept informed by phone. I did get to inspect their work when they finished and everything was accomplished to my satisfaction. I would recommend them anytime, and I would call them if I need anymorework.
They did an excellent job with a high degree of professionalism.
Kurt was responsive, polite and easy to work with. He helped me when I had a problem with the adjuster. All work is done and well done. The contracted workers were also responsive and easy to work with and very professional. As I said everything is done except compensation for the fan we bought and for the two lampshades they lost.
Marshall and his crew were great to work with and the quality of work was excellent. The few things that I had questions about were answered and taken care of quickly. I would definitely recommend GWR.
I would not recommend them at all. It didn't seem like I was a high priority to them. Once a week they would come out and do something, then leave and come back days later. I still had to go back and ask them about certain things, or show them things they forgot to do.
GWR&R far exceeded my expectations for workmanship. They always kept me in the loop regarding the remodel. It feels like living in a new house again because of the great work they did.
The workers were good and Marshall was considerate.
GWR were extremely helpful throughout our restoration project. They were always ready with answers and explainations. They were polite, effective, and friendly to work with.
