BEWARE OF JENKINS RESTORATION. After a fire, we unfortunately hired Jenkins to restore our guest house. An insurance company had recommended them, which seemed promising. However, dealing with Jenkins proved worse than the fire itself, filled with additional trauma and disappointment.
Our guest house is modest, less than 900 sq ft, yet Jenkins failed us at every turn. Their service agreement was heavily biased in their favor, leaving us with little recourse for their substandard work, which they fully controlled. Their one-year warranty and lack of oversight are red flags. It became apparent that Jenkins prioritizes profit over quality, as they seemed to rely on customers moving on rather than addressing issues.
Their subcontractors were incompetent, performing as poorly as entry-level amateurs. Supervision was virtually nonexistent, focusing instead on chasing new business. We observed these subcontractors drinking on the job and inadequately measuring roofing materials, leading to significant discrepancies and delays. Their unprofessional conduct extended to smoking inside a structure that had previously burned down.
Structurally, their work was alarming. Major parts of the roof lacked necessary supports, which they claimed always passed inspection. However, an inspection failed, and only after intervention by an interim contractor did we manage to address this before a reinspection.
Siding installation was equally disastrous, with crooked and mismatched pieces and improper nailing that caused potential for leaks and further damage. The cleanup process was a constant battle, requiring multiple requests to remove visible trash and debris.
It took 8.5 months and over $100,000 just reach rough end inspections, for just 875 sq ft. We eventually had to work with the insurance company's VP of Vendor Relations to extract ourselves from the contract after demonstrating Jenkins' negligence through videos from a licensed engineer.
Many reviews echo our experience, citing issues like indoor smoking, on-the-job drinking, lack of supervision, and poor craftsmanship. Despite some high ratings online, a closer look reveals a troubling pattern.
I advise caution if considering Jenkins Restoration. Review their totally one-sided, egregious agreement, be prepared for significant challenges. Our experience was marked by lost time, money, and effort, a warning to anyone valuing their property and well-being.
Dealing with Jenkins Restoration was more damaging to me mentally than the tornado that actually hit my house.
If Byron and Bud are handling the issue - YOU ARE GOOD TO GO!!!!!!
I would be embarrassed to recommend this company. I had a shower pan leak and was told the job would take 3 weeks. It took them 9 months. The different trades didn’t know their craft. For example:the carpenter didn’t know how to cut 3 1/4 baseboards to match my existing. The painters painted over a hole.
This was the WORST construction company I’ve ever dealt with and we’ve dealt with many.
Jenkins was timely in their response to our needs. Communicated well and adapted well to changes that we requested.
The response was immediate. Alex was component, informative, and professional. Drying out the house from the water leak occurred same day I called. Alex worked hand-in-hand with my insurance and he provided all required forms, reports, pictures to my insurance as well. Alex provided me the scope of the work he was going to do and he always maintained contact with me during this phase of the restoration.
I am a time stickler. I expected them to be here at the time they said they would. I let them know this ahead of time. I also did not like all of workers that did not speak English. I was more put out by the office and how they scheduled everything. They scheduled different crews from different places to arrive at the same times. This lead to too many people being in a small area at once.
I would absolutely recommend Jenkins for any remodeling or restoration needs. Prices are reasonable and customer service was noteworthy. Any issues that arose during the construction process were taken care of immediately, especially by Hannah Riojas who personally responded to all my concerns.
They were awesome! They were very responsive and extremely helpful.
NOT LIKELY TO RECOMMEND. Months upon months of no progress or answers to finally have someone come in and do a TERRIBLE job. We initially thought the mitigation team was good until we discovered mold under flooring they failed to remove and they used a dehumidifier that was too big and got so hot it melted the wax ring on our toilet.
Jenkins did a great job repairing my home. Their team was very communicative and patient throughout the process.
Everyone was very professional and did a great job.
I'm very please with the work Jenkins Restorations did on my home. They did excellent work on making sure of the products they used. They would make sure you're pleased with what they were doing.
I am likely to recommend Jenkins Restorations to a friend. They were very professional and did a good job.
Jenkins Restorations was very prompt, and they provided good communication with their customer.
The team was very professional from the beginning to the end. They were very responsive and understanding about the chaotic situation.
It was a very easy job it was a small bathroom and took over a year to get the job done, and it took 11 months for Jenkins restorations to finish the job. I went through 3 project mangers who dropped the ball in communication. They regularly showed up without supplies even though I would send them very clear written down direction what I expected. They would act surprised each time, for example, they showed up without a towel rack even though I had it in writing that they were going to do that. Not only that, but they messed up so many things up, they slapped the doors and built two door frames that didn't fit, I couldn't close my pantry door for 6 months. The remediation was fine, but everything that was rebuilding was a nightmare. I was without a door for a long time. I had 2 project managers that fell off the map, I had to tell them to get it fixed. I am not convinced that it is fully it is fixed because with weather the doors swell up, and I don't know much about construction but the first thing I know that if your doors swell it's not good. I have to wait for the weather to change to see if the door swells, and they make it seem like it was my fault, They didn't match the color of paint, but if the door is still an issue, in writing they would have to pay for it since it is their fault. I feel for the last set of guys who would do the installation work were set up for failure by their poor leadership by the project manager. The first set of guys who came, I feel like they didn't care about my project. I would like to say Danny and his partner were super nice, and they were cleaning everyone else's mess.
They were professional, easy to work with, and did what they said they were going to do. I appreciate the fact that they didn't try to upsell products.
The mitigation was great, and I would recommend them to a friend. The individual who did the mitigation even brought someone through Allstate to help with the restoration because they saw the work that was being done. The restoration was terrible, and I would not recommend them to a friend.
I appreciate that Jenkins employees stayed with the job to make me happy. All the employees that I worked with all wanted to please me in all that they did through the entire process. They always wanted my approval for the satisfaction of the job. The employees who were responsible for categorizing our content and putting it into a spreadsheet were excellent. They were courteous and kind, they will be forever my angels.
They gave me a very good price and a very good deal. They came in under my expectations of budget. Aside from a few minor annoyances like caulking that was probably caused by the freeze, they overall did a good job.
I already have recommended people.
I appreciate how well they took ownership of my situation and they went above and beyond to do their best. They take care of their customers.
There was a 6 month period when no one showed up and then they came in and short cut the material and labor to pacify us.
Be careful with Jenkins Restoration. I would look for alternative options because I am having to pay an extensive amount of money to a new contractor since they did not repair the damage at my home correctly.
The professionals that we worked with at Jenkins Restoration were knowledgeable and great to work with.
The product was good. The amount of time it took was way more than one should expect.
Poor and infrequent communication, especially regarding multiple delays. I had to chase them and was never proactively contactedFrequent dishonesty catching their rep in lies about the status of the workFinal work had some critical elements missing (handles on the doors) that had to go back to the insurance company for approval Required escalations to get resolutions to the core problems.
They did incredibly shotty work, the managers did not catch missed work. When the work was brought to the attention of administrators they said "it's your tough luck, you are passed the 1-year warranty". We told them this work should have never been approved! We did not go to do a walkthrough, we just trusted they did a proper job. Never did we think we would find such an incredibly mind-bogglingly bad job. Then when they agreed to meet with us because we would not accept their rude answer, we came to an agreement of how they would fix it and they disregarded the agreed-upon plan and did the work wrong again for the second time. Then because we were trying to prepare the property for sale they gave us a bid of $5000 and I said it was way too much! Even though they were given the second job by us they were still disrespectful and uncooperative. They did the opposite of the plan to repair the work and it was equally as bad of a solution to the problem we had before. It was just as equally unacceptable and bad. Then they threatened to put a lien on our property if we did not pay right away when the work was not completed properly. During the finishing of the tiles and floors of both bathrooms and kitchen, it was clearly not refinished although they tried to present it as such. We hired them in August and it took them until November to do a shower job. They were hired to redo the interior of a shower with 100% white glossy subway tiles and instead every junction and joint possible showed the red interior ceramic body of tiles that had been cut. They were left exposed at every corner inside and outside of the shower. There were no rounded or bull-nosed tiles used to finish the shower, they were sharp edges! When they finally agreed to do the work they agreed to install the Schluter to replace all the exposed tiles and instead defiantly came back and added a type of product that was the exact opposite. It created a Burm on the edge of the step over railing of the shower and it was going to hold the water from draining and only promote more mold and rot. The grout work between the tiles was so poorly done that there were air bubbles gapped and holes between the tiles. It was creating an environement for deep mold.
They were very fast and helpful!
I already have.
Most of the floors look good, but it took them too long.
They are the worst. They did a terrible job and damaged my house and left it in worse shape then when I hired them.
Avoid at all costs.Communication and setting expectations was very poor. Project management and timing of project tasks coupled with a lack of dependable subs on throughout project resulted in a ton of rework. This is of course at a cost to jenkins or the subs but more importantly to your time as the customer. If you do not stay onsite and oversee the project yourself there was a bunch of corners cut and misuse of your existing property. Then there was the use of not appropriately licensed electricians and plumbers. In the course of my job I had 3 electricians, 4 plumber, and 3 HVAC people. All blaming the ones before them for poor workmanship, I had multiple electric issues (all electric was replaced this should have been easy) and 2 gas leaks one to stove and one in attic with HVAC conversion hookup being done incorrectly in attic. Jenkins was repairing house fire damage and in the course of the rebuild almost burned it down 4times. Jenkins charges the insurance company full price for licensed repairmen then will fill in with anyone they can find. The PMs will say they have a crew and workers showing up will not be an issue but they don’t really, There are Corp standards for subs with insurance requirements etc ....which a good idea in theory but hard for smaller subs or they can’t get subs that want to enlist in this so jenkins PMs have a work around and will get a GC in the jenkins program and use them to pay the non-licensed subs. Jenkins PMs work very hard but have so many jobs they have a hard time being effective. They are set up for failure. I would avoid Jenkins
It was a difficult restoration.
Great communication, and work completed in a timely manner. Thank You!
Unfortunately I would not recommend Jenkins for any type of restoration work. They need to reset the way they manage projects and set expectations they can deliver on.
Jenkins came in on a job that was performed very poorly by another contractor. They not only corrected all the mistakes from the other company, but then knocked their own work out of the park. My house looks wonderful and, more importantly, everything works!!
Jenkins Restoration was prompt, polite, and fast. I really appreciate how quickly they got here.
Jenkins Restoration came and helped mitigate all the water damage on my house right after a storm. I really appreciate their promptness and professionalism.
I am very satisfied with Jenkins Restorations. They are very professional, trustworthy and respected my home and property. They were excellent with communication and worked hard to restore my shower and bath. They took care to completely seal off the area during demolition and they were very tidy during the work project. Jenkins took care to finish the project and follow up on cleanup. I am very happy with the end result. My shower and bath look beautiful.
Not dependable with good work ethics and hiring great contractors.
I have to congratulate Jenkins Restoration for doing an excellent job on perfecting our kitchen job. Richard Vincent and his sub contractor Rick and Chris listened to my concerns and completed the job wonderfully! The kitchen is beautiful and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing their skills. It is hard to find a company who relates to a customer’s needs but with Jenkins Restoration and Richard Vincent you will be taken care of well!Thank you Richard Vincent and Jenkins Restoration! The Wier family
Our service from Jenkins was like Jekyll and Hyde. The first crew was non-responsive, inactive, not truthful, and totally unprofessional- not to mention tried to install a piece of junk in our home and chipped our bathtub. The second crew worked hard to correct the awful situation and were successful.. Because of the first crew's negligence, the second had to push to get one room finished and another somewhat liveable so we could have company over the holidays and then had to wait until company was gone. If I were writing this about the second crew my ratings would be different.
These folks were fast, responsive and proactive in response to our refrigerator-related flood damage. We couldn't have been more pleased.
I was referred to Jenkins by my insurance company after my house flooded. They were quick to check out damage, build a quote and even get a team in to do the drywall repair. We did request a change order from our original scope and paid for the upgraded materials and labor required upfront. It took 3+ months and lots of delays before we ultimately cut our losses and terminated our contract. The branch manager was professional, highly responsive and cooperative in the termination process of the contract. Communication was an ongoing challenge and the subcontractors were unreliable. Kudos to branch manager for driving to fast resolution, but overall I would not recommend this company.
Worst contractor I’ve ever used started in May finally completed a 3 day job the very end of November. Would tell they will be here tomorrow and never showed up or call to let us know so we could leave the house. Would never recommend them for anything.
Jenkins Restorations is a great company to take care of any projects you may have. Josh Myers was our contractor and he is awesome! He explained every step of the process and delivered what was promised .
1000% and we will use them again for future projects!
