The homes in our subdivision are around 25 years old and were sided with James Hardie but trimmed with wood. Most of us are experiencing the need to replace the trim and John McCarter Construction fits the bill perfectly.

I had a very small time-and-materials project which I described over the phone. Unlike other companies I didn’t need an estimator to come out beforehand. Putting a piece of fascia back on the house should not be a difficult task. So I appreciated that they didn’t need to take something small and blow it out of proportion. A single visit to put it back on is all that was needed. Very much appreciated and will definitely use them again if the need arises.

They are very professional, very thorough, and had an open line of communication. The feedback was back and forth, it went both ways. We were always on the same page. We were never surprised about anything. If I had any questions, they were there. The workers were very professional and would explain things to us. They would knock on the door if there was something they wanted us to know about.

We recently had a great experience with McCarter Construction. They were engaged to redo our roof, gutters and siding. Throughout the entire process they were responsive. Their designer, Melissa, was very helpful in choosing colors. Mike, our rep, kept us updated on work status and responded quickly to questions. He also worked well with our landscape contractor who was planning to start work after McCarter finished - including working to make sure the specs on the two projects came together and to make timelines work after weather disruptions. We found that all of their subs were easy to work with, focused on quality and respectful of us and our neighbors. Bottomline, McCarter's attention to detail, process throughout and quality of work was excellent and we are thrilled with the results.

My wife and I purchased our “new” home in 2020. The home was updated 20 years ago with James Hardie siding. Much of the siding was failing around the base due to the techniques used at the time. McCarter Construction used a new approach which included improved flashing, the use of PVC baseboards, removal and replacement of exposed wood with James Hardie trim, and the installation of Hardie soffits and facia. The exterior of our home is now virtually maintenance free. Well done, McCarter!

I would suggest to people that if they are going to use John McCarter Construction, call and get on their schedule. I was told when I contacted them in March that they were booked for four months already. When it got to where we were moving, we had weather delays in the summer. If someone is going to use them, it is going to take a while. It is not just them; it is everyone. They explained everything they were going to do. They did a terrific job with both projects. I had leaks coming into the house that were getting worse. They fixed it in three days. There was a storm after, and it held up. Their pricing was lower than that of two other people who quoted me. I was very happy. The quality of the materials and the pricing were very good.
