Overall, we had a ok experience except for two things. We wanted to see three different colors of shutters against our base color. We were told by a manager who shall remain nameless at this time, that it wouldn’t be a problem, they would get the samples to us right away. Well, they sent down a full set of all white, which was our least favorite of the three we chose to look at, and I think they were hoping we would just decide to take them and call it good. Well, no. So, when I called and talked to said manager, he tried to kind of sluff it off, but I demanded to see the other two colors. So he agreed to get them to us. A week goes by and we had seen nothing. So I called again, and got a different manager. I told him my problem, and he said they would get right on it, and that one of the colors had to come from out of state. OK, so I said that would be fine.
So, I finally get a call from a third manager who said he had the colors we needed and he could come by that afternoon. Great. So, when he arrived, the color midnight surf, which is what we selected as the trim color for the house but we suspected was not the right color that was put on the house, was nothing like the sample that the third manager brought to the house. The sample was the midnight surf, which has a blue tone to it. The color the house was trimmed with is not what we ordered, which I suspected all along. I really have a feeling that they dumped a color on us that they had a stockpile of. Luckily for K Designers, the color they trimmed the house with was ok with us. But it certainly was not what we ordered. Disappointing.
Second, we wanted the peak of our house to be done in vertical siding, versus horizontal like he rest of the house. Again, the first manager, whom we agreed to a final contract with, and we agreed to a certain price with, which was supposed to include the vertical siding, was not written into the contract by him, unbeknownst to us. So when I called and talked to this manager, I was told that he wrote it up with the standard siding to keep costs down. So, the vertical siding cost is another $450. That was not what we agreed to. I feel like I was getting chiseled on that deal. But, I had to agree to it, as we wanted the vertical as an offset to everything else. Again, disappointing.
The one bright spot was the installer, Aaron. He was helpful, did a very good job, and answered all of our questions.
