Areas Of Satisfaction - I think the building process and schedule seems to be very detailed. I am expecting them to be able to build within the agreed upon timeframe. Relative to other builders, we have had experience with and researched. That was before we decided to go with you.
Design Consultant Knowledge - Absolutely, the design consultant was knowledgeable.
Favorite Design Feature (Selections) - I am excited about the butlers' pantry.
Recognized Excellence - I would like to recognize Ella.
Customer Suggestion - We have some wasted space on the island. The cabinet supplier didn't provide a cabinet of particular size that would fit. I did find other suppliers that had those in stock. The one that you use didn't stock that same feature. The supplier for the shelves that went into the master bedroom, they had a slow turnaround. I am thinking about a two-week delay in getting through the plans for the design. We had some changes to the shelves.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied that their design studio had everything available to go through in the selection process. That was a lot more straight forward than other builders we were looking at and had heard about
Areas For Improvement - They didn't fall short in any area.
Construction Quality - Overall, I am satisfied with the materials and workmanship. Craft workers, in general, keep the work site clean and neat. On occasion, bottles, tools, rags, etc. were found in the rafters, framing and around the lot.
Communication - Excellent communication from Landon. On several occasions, he texted questions during the build process to clarify items to ensure they were done in accordance with our intentions (e.g., location of outlets, wire runs, etc.). Bi-weekly meetings were effective in understanding what was completed and what was coming up in the next couple of weeks. He responds timely to texts and questions.
PM Expertise - Landon has a clear understanding and expertise in the build process and construction methods. It is clear that his prior experience and training has prepared him well for his position. He has coordinated sub-contractors, material deliveries and orders extremely well, resulting in little down time between build phases.
PM Professionalism - Landon has been courteous and professional throughout the build process. He puts the customer first and ensures that they are satisfied with the project.
PM Problem Resolution - During the build process there were a couple of issues that needed resolution (e.g., missing outlet in the study, missing exterior gas stub). They were corrected timely without issue.
PM Professional & Organized - Landon is well organized and professional. Timing and coordination of the subs have been exemplary.
Understand Building Process - Landon understands the build process very well and has provided excellent recommendations regarding landscaping, internet wiring and interior finishing (e.g., shelving, window treatments, etc.). He often refers back to the design drawings and selection addendum to ensure the house is build to the required specifications.
Clean & Safe - On several occasions Landon took action to ensure the job site was clean and safe. Examples include removing bottles, rags etc. that were left by subs, repositioning lumber with nails exposed to avoid someone stepping on them, eliminating trip hazard, etc.
Employees & Trade Contractors - Trade contractors are professional and courteous. In some instances, better reference to design drawings could be beneficial in preventing rework. A floor outlet in the middle of the study was missed and the concrete pad needed to be cut to install it. On another occasion the exterior gas stub out was missed and needed to be corrected after drywall installation.
Overall Experience - To date the experience has been exemplary. Build time line has been on track (or ahead of schedule). Communication has been timely and accurate. Quality of workmanship has been excellent.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I am quite impressed with the coordination and timeliness of the build process without any sacrifice in quality and craftsmanship.
Recognized Excellence - I would like to thank and recognize several individuals. First is Kate DaSilva. She has been a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Kate was the first Kent representative that we met. She was extraordinarily easy to talk to and offered several recommendations and options that we would not have thought of on our own. She is one of the key factors in our decision to choose Kent. Additionally we would like to recognize, Ella Stikeleather. She has been fantastic. Her recommendations made during the Selections process were spot on. With the exterior painting complete, we have received several compliments on the color selections. We credit Ella with helping us make those decisions and eagerly await the completion of the interior painting in the next couple of weeks. Lastly, we would like to recognize Landon Choplin. He is turning our dreams on paper into a reality.
Areas For Improvement - The area where some improvement is needed is in the custom features (e.g., extra outlets, gas stub out additions, etc.) that are not in the standard design. I assume that prior to each phase (e.g., prior to electrical work beginning), a meeting is held with the sub-contractor (i.e., electrician). During this pre-job, improved focus on referencing drawings, additions made by the owner, lessons learned from previous builds, etc. may help in reducing rework.
Orientation Punch List - There are still a couple of items that have to be taken care of. I trust that he is going to do it.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I think the build timeline exceeded my expectations. Some of the subcontractors, fell a little short of my expectations regarding their reading of the plans and the specialty items we included in the house. They did not reference the plans effectively which led to several rework items throughout the house.
Recognized Excellence - I would like to recognize Landon Choplin for his exceptional service. He did a excellent job. I would also like to recognize Ella Richardson or Strikeweather, she got married during our process, but she was exceptional in designs and selections. Kate was wonderful in the sales presentations.
Kent Homes clearly is a smarter way to build a custom luxury home. It is clear from the time a customer is a prospect to signing the purchase agreement and selecting design options that the professionals at Kent Homes are focused on customer Satisfaction.
Design Consultant Communication - Alina responded to text messages and emails within 24 hours (often faster) and followed up with conference calls. We are more than satisfied with the communication.
Selections Budget - Kent homes includes quality flooring and fixtures as standard in their homes depending on the model and community. Alina was very helpful in informing us about upgrades and value over the standard offered selections.
Design Consultant Trust - We explored quite a few options not a part of the standard offering. One option was specific outdoor premium paint and we got a reasonable quote within 48 hours involving the subcontractor. Alina promptly followed up on all our requests.
Options - We were very satisfied if not amazed at all the options and levels of options to make our home unique to our style.
Understanding Of Cost - We visited the design center briefly before the actual selections appointment. This was very helpful in balancing budgeting structural options with the design center options.
Value - Kent Homes provided many features as standard that we upgraded in many instances only one step up. Our more expensive upgrades focused on the living room fireplace. Overall the options at Kent Homes design center provided excellent value for our home.
Favorite Design Feature (Selections) - The fireplace / AV combination with a mantel. This will be a center piece of the living room.
Recognized Excellence - Cameron and Alina provide truly caring and knowledgeable service that represents Kent Homes commitment to building a “smarter way to a luxury home”
Customer Suggestion - A catalog of standard options and pricing would be helpful to better plan the budgeting process. Having preconceived notions of costs and budget we gained knowledge of pricing during the experience. Certainly knowing this in advance would cut down on the need “now how much does this upgrade cost?” 😜
Areas Of Satisfaction - Having only built two homes with “tract builders” The Kent Homes experience has been far above any experience with these builders. I feel very confident that Kent Homes will build a quality home on time and on budget . The options in The design center more than met our expectations as previously we were restricted to very limited choices. Kent Homes truly offers a custom home at a very reasonable price point.
Areas For Improvement - Initially when we were looking at floor plans we did not understand the relationship with lot sizes. For example . The particular community “standard lot sizes” would only fit 55’ wide floor plans and some 50’. We fell in love with a wider floor plan before realizing this relationship and selecting a lot. We fixed things by upgrading lots but it would have been more helpful in the initial dialog if we understood what Kent Homes floor plans fit on what lots.

Favorite Design Feature (At Contract) - What I'm most excited about is just having a custom-built house on our own property as a whole.
Customer Suggestion - I would suggest maybe just having a detailed checklist of kind of what is expected in the process, something like that to help keep people on track or know what's coming next, what to look for.
Recognized Excellence - Carol and Alina have been good to work with.
Areas For Improvement - They did not fall short in any areas. They've done very well.
Areas Of Satisfaction - They've been very responsive and helpful in finding what we're looking for and answering our questions.
Employees & Trade Contractors - For the most part, everyone is professional and nice. But, as expected, some contractors are incredibly messy and leave behind food, nails, materials, and more that we are constantly cleaning up. This is expected on job sites but it’s still concerning bc we don’t want injury to people or property. Also we had an incident where someone was hanging out in my neighbors yard and they don’t need their kids to be worried about random strangers on their property. Dade immediately handled the situation and he also helps pick up after the contractors.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Dade is amazing. He doesn’t make us feel like a burden and he keeps us informed every step of the way. We enjoy working with him every day.

And of course, Kenny was always professional!
Communication - Kenny communicated with us very effectively. As noted we had biweekly meetings and he would call us as necessary when issues arose. There was much discussion around the installation of the chimney hood over the stove. He had the contractor stop by and discuss the options and recommended to us the best solution. Same thing with the master toilet room. We had several calls discussing the specifics of the opening, etc. In all cases, he made suggestions that were perfect and steered us away from things that would not work. Couldn't be happier!
PM Professionalism - As previously stated, Kenny was a professional in all aspects of the job and treated us with the utmost respect and always watched out for our interests.
PM Expertise - Kenny had the expertise to manage my project. He kept the project on schedule, raised his concerns to us, always had great recommendations, resolved all of our issues, kept us completely in the loop.
PM Problem Resolution - Kenny was excellent at addressing and resolving our problems. As previously mentioned, he was concerned about the installation of the chimney hood over the stove. He had the contractor stop by and discuss the options and recommended to us the best solution. Same thing with the master toilet room. We did not want a door on the master toilet area, and we had several calls discussing the specifics of the opening, etc. In all cases, he made suggestions that were perfect and steered us away from things that would not work. Finally a need came up to install a $2,000 roll back drain in the driveway. We did not care to lay out the money but he convinced us to install the drain. We are glad we did.
Trust - Without a doubt we had full trust in Kenny. It is not easy to be 650 miles away from the building site and spend a good amount of cash to build a new home, and never feeling the need to travel to NC and check up on the house. Kenny was trustworthy and followed through on commitments.
Employees & Trade Contractors - We never came in contact with the employees and trade contractors of Kent Homes who were anything but professional and courteous.
Schedule - Absolutely. The house was built on schedule according to plan. If anything, the house was done 2 to 4 weeks earlier than expected.
Condition of Home - We were thrilled with the condition of our home when we moved in.
Orientation Punch List - This is still a work in progress, but Kenny is doing an excellent job of managing the completion of items on the punch list. He had the foyer chandelier installed and swapped out the light bulbs in that light and the light in the dining room per our request. He sent us pictures of both fixtures with the light bulbs to get our confirmation. Similarly, I was concerned with the keys not opening the garage convenience door and the garage entranceway door, but Kenny went over to the house to rectify the issue.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Honestly, they met or exceeded our expectations across the board from beginning to end. No need to repeat everything that I have already stated.
Areas For Improvement - We were happy with all facets of the process.
Recognized Excellence - Besides Kenny, Kate DaSilva was a tremendous asset to us throughout the process. She never let us down. She handled any of our concerns quickly and efficiently.
Additional Comments - We spoke to some of the other residents in Brunswick Forest who did not use Kent Homes to build, and I am glad we chose Kent based on some of the feedback.
Warranty Manager Professionalism - Hunter Shafer was exceptional in all aspects and very professional in his dealings with us
Warranty Problem Resolution - Hunter ensured that each of our warranty issues were addressed and corrected. He would often stop by the house to check on the progress of each item and check on the repair work
Warranty Administrator Communication - Hunter was incredible. He would communicate via e-mail, text and phone call with us to let us know where we were in the process. He would always inform us when a contractor was to be expected and next steps. Couldn't be happier.
Warranty Satisfaction - Yes. All warranty items were resolved to our satisfaction.
Warranty Trust - We had complete trust in Hunter and he delivered. He met our high expectations consistently
Recognized Excellence - At the very end of our warranty process we came across a very bad leak in our laundry room. Further investigation by Hunter and plumber discovered that a nail used to install the exterior siding had punctured a hole in the pipe of our laundry room sink and caused water damage. The laundry room cabinet was ripped out and a huge dryer blower was brought in to completely dry out the area. Hunter ensured that the room was completely dry and immediately told us we would get a replacement laundry cabinet. He was simply the best!

PM Problem Resolution - Tyler came toward the latter 3rd of our project and he was our 3rd PM. I appreciate that through these transitions, our project didn’t suffer. Tyler picked up quickly and was very quick to address whatever issue came up and was resourceful in finding solutions to issues.

Areas For Improvement - I wish the selections of finishing was not so limited in some areas. For example, we were disappointed that there so few cabinet colors to choose from and same thing with tiling for kitchen, floors and bathrooms. So much is available out there so we were quite surprised.

She answered all questions promptly. Our Design Coordinator, Alina Aviles was also awesome. She was knew her products and was so helpful guiding us through all of our many selections. Areas For Improvement - We had a problem with the brick we chose. We happened to be out of town when we were told that we would have to pick one of the samples we had already said was unacceptable. In speaking with the young woman we originally dealt with I told her that we were spending half a million dollars on a home and we wanted just perfect and not have to settle. Her comment to me was we have many clients who spent half a million dollars on their home. Not cool, still leaves a bad taste in both my husband and my mouth.

Communication - DADE was available and responsive even in th off- hours.

PM Problem Resolution - See above. I’m very impressed with Dade’s ability to represent Kent Homes, yet assuring that the homeowner is satisfied with the quality of the Kent Homes product
Trust - Dade definitely engenders trust in Kent Homes.
Employees & Trade Contractors - From our limited interaction with the trades/subs, they were very professional, certainly extremely courteous. Also, generally speaking, the quality of their work was better than the quality of our previous Brunswick Forest home (True Homes)
Condition of Home - Cleaning crew did a great job, particularly in the tight time frame

Areas Of Satisfaction - In almost every area, we were more than satisfied.
Areas For Improvement - Discontinued Items - Brick. We had a bad experience in replacing a discontinued brick/color. Only after we strongly (very strongly) suggested that perhaps another brick manufacturer/vendor might produce a similar color product, did Kent find a replacement/substitute. To be fair, it was actually done very quickly. - Gas fired tankless unvented water heater. Inlet pipe froze. The model that came with our home was inadequately insulated, and froze up within weeks of us moving into the home. Kent installed additional insulation that We hope is sufficient. Again, to be fair, it was addressed within hours. I would suggest Kent re-examine that particular exterior/vent-free model, as the plumber (Milam?) told me he had a dozen frozen pipe calls that morning)

We really like the way the house looks, and we will be very happy. However, I think there were more mistakes than we would have expected, and it was our responsibility to catch them. I think a double-check process would have found these -- we missed one and it cost us. I thought there more things at close that still needed to be fixed (although none are major)
Lead Source - Once we decided on Compass Pointe, we looked at the builders, models, and comments. We liked the models and visited with builders to go over the models. We felt we had good support, and the pricing was also good.
Value - I have not seen the house built yet, but so far, I would give it five stars.
Favorite Design Feature (At Contract) - For me, the open floor plan and enclosed porch would be my favorite features.
Customer Suggestion - It sounds very organized, but since I have never been through it, I feel I have more questions.

Areas For Improvement - Our sales representative went on maternity leave. Once that happened, the communication at times was not as thorough.
Additional Comments - The house isn't built yet. I will give them a 5 based on everything thus far.
Quality Of Workmanship - There were parts when reviewed at the walk-thru that were not at the highest quality/ needing fixing. These were fairly obvious issues.
Communication - Landon was easy to communicate with.

Construction Quality - I thought that all trades have done an outstanding job to date. For exception of the plumber which I have voiced my concerns with my PM. Resolution action was taken for the most part.
Communication - YES, very effectively. Dade had set up a call every other Friday since kicking off the project, sent pictures just about every week, called immediately if something came up that was questionable which made myself and my wife feel part of the building process and he was very transparent.
PM Expertise - YES, He was able to answer ALL my questions and emails using the terminology related to building trade. He had reference IBC codes and was prepared to foresee possible issues in prevent delays.
PM Professionalism - I am assuming [PROJECTMANAGER] is Dade. The answer would very knowledgeable and professional.
PM Problem Resolution - Yes, Dade had brought a couple issues with proposed resolution which made sense and seemed to keep the project on track.
PM Professional & Organized - Dade is a very caring and polite craftsman. He is very organized and is always open to listening to all of our concerns during the building process. He also worked with our propane vendor in setting the tank perfectly pre our landscape design.
Understand Building Process - Yes, updates have been coming at least once a week. Next steps are explained very well as he is following the script from the client pre-construction meeting preamble guidance. This was also fully explained by Cameron too.
Trust - Yes, Dade had met every commitment and exceeded my expectations on a few occasions.
Employees & Trade Contractors - Kent employees that we have met were very professional and courteous. Also, the few subs we have encountered including AV vendor and appliance have been very helpful.
Overall Experience - It has been great!

We continue to be impressed with Kent Homes. We did our research before we decided on Kent. Since going under contract, we have spoken to homeowners whose homes have been completed and others who are under construction. We’ve not heard a single complaint - only compliments. We feel we selected the BEST builder in our neighborhood and probably in Wilmington/Leland areas.

Customer Suggestion - Perhaps provide a cost sheet showing the price ranges within the different levels several days ahead of selections. For example, Level 3 countertops is $2000-$3000, Level 4 is $3000-$4000, etc. provide ranges for all selections - cabinets, lights, flooring, plumbing fixtures, etc. Then when we arrive at selections and want a higher level, we have a general range of what we might consider and what might be slightly above budget or significantly above budget….
Recognized Excellence - Without a doubt - Sarah Mebane and Ella Stikeleather. I’m going to miss communicating with them when we move to the construction phase. They are swift to respond, accurate, skilled, and courteous!

Areas Of Satisfaction - Their responsiveness to us. There were no delaying tactics or broken promises. They have responded swiftly and thoroughly to our many questions, concerns, changes and criteria.

Recognized Excellence - Ella has been tremendous working with us on our fonal drawings and the few CWAs we created while conducting the final review.
Areas Of Satisfaction - They provided us a tentative site plan of our model on our lot before we went under contract for the lot. We didn’t want to buy a lot that wouldn’t fit our home. Another builder refused to do that for us. That sealed the intent to move forward with Kent as our builder.
Areas For Improvement - We felt the time between selections and receiving our final plans was very long.
Overall, we are pleased with our house and would recommend the builder. Through lessons learned we would provide input on the process and this we would have done differently or are please we did in selections.

Understanding Of Cost - As we go through pre-selections of what we want we don't really know the costs at this time so could find we have to change course when we find out the actual pricing.
Value - Not all costs are known as of yet. Although have some older cost figures, some costs seem high for what they are (particularly with electrical items; also only $100 credit for not having a coffered ceiling in the study).
Favorite Design Feature (At Contract) - Having the master areas run down the entire side of the house.
Customer Suggestion - Would be nice to be offered a bonus upgrade somewhere based on the cost of the project; maybe even tiered bonus. Spend X over base, get 1 upgrade. Spend X+Y over base, get 2 upgrades, etc. (i.e., Flooring in the master, carpet upgrade, higher level of a fixture, etc.).

Additional Comments - When doing the pre-drywall walkthrough, we found several items needing to be corrected (which they were). Having found & reported the items at that time saved Kent thousands of dollars for plumbing, electrical, and general contractor labor costs in avoiding having to fix later. It would have been a great gestor for Kent to have waived a CWA fee for a minor change we requested.
PM Problem Resolution - Several problems were experienced during the project, but Kenny always kept us abreast and ensured issues were remediated in a timely manner as if the house being built was his own.
Schedule - Build completed roughly 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Build quality, communication, and professionalism.
Areas For Improvement - Not all items from selections and/or reflected on plans were always done right the first time. Items were ultimately always fixed but surprised with items that were missed by trades. I presume they just get in the habit of doing some routine things and don't always check the plans. A couple misses likely stemmed to drafting issues. Luckily, we paid for an extra floor outlet for had we not, there would be no power in the vicinity of the media closet as the plans showed an outlet in the wall which could not be installed due to the framing in that wall. Lighting in the Loggia also was not great on the drawings, but ultimately Kenny had the issues rectified in the wiring phase. I'm just mentioning this should someone want the feedback to relay back to the early steps in the process.

Clean & Safe - We have been impressed with the cleanliness of the job site when we come to town to visit the house.
Employees & Trade Contractors - We have had limited interactions with the subcontractors when we are in town visiting the job site. Archie has been our main point of contact.
Overall Experience - We have been quite pleased with our house construction and the customer service that we have received so far!

Schedule - Overall we were satisfied with the exception of the 9 week delay due to permitting issues with the septic installation. Had the septic permit on file been reviewed at the beginning of the build process, we feel this delay would not have occurred. If there had been issues with the permit, steps could have been taken with Brunswick County early on to avoid the building delays.
Condition of Home - The overall appearance of the home was neat and clean. The windows did not appear to be cleaned thoroughly and one window that was in the main downstairs living area had a large sticker/decal on it. We were unable to remove this ourselves due to the cathedral ceiling where the window was located.
Orientation Punch List - Many of the punch list items took longer due to several of the companies cancelling or being a no show on the date scheduled. We are still waiting for screens on numerous windows.
Areas For Improvement - Communication at times was inconsistent due to situations that came up with the septic permitting process and the build timeline.
I highly recommended Kent Homes to build a home to my friends and/or family.

Salesperson Communication - Carol respons within the same day and we appreciate that so much about her. I had so many questions,often emailing Carol several times a day. Carol answered every single email. We were so impressed by her patience with us.
Value - Several interior options are fair, and some upgrade options are much higher than the value, of a light fixture,for example. We also found the kitchen appliances very expensive. We understand that installation fees need to be considered, but we were pretty blown away by the mark-up of the wine fridges,stoves, etc.

Options - The light options were a bit underwhelming for us, and we decided to get the credit for all lighting and fans to purchase our own later on.

Value - We found the upgrade prices for the fireplace and kitchen appliances a bit high. The rest is very fair.
Favorite Design Feature (Selections) - KITCHEN !!! Thank you Alina, for helping me to design my dream kitchen. A few things I regret that I should have added after all, but I know there is still time for it if we really want it and we are aware of the new purchase order fees, etc.

Areas For Improvement - The attention to detail hasn't been good. There has been a lack off communication with Kent Homes, I had to find out that we were losing our project manager from him, never heard from Kent until I called Ashley. I feel like i have had to project manage the entire project, finding things wrong at almost every aspect of the build. Some of the errors were quite random.
Additional Comments - There has been several concerns throughout the process that surprised and disappointed us. At no time prior to the build was there a discussion about exterior windows separating the kitchen from the finished interior sunroom. We had to pay to have the windows removed and the opening created. This is just one example of the errors we have found

Customer Suggestion - Our process may have been unique, so bear that in mind, but as we were exploring other lots in several other neighborhoods besides St James, we needed to know on a fairly quick timeline if our selected house plan would fit on the lot, in order to make an offer to purchase the lot. It felt like we were asking for something special to get that drawing, but it seemed critical to us. Obviously we could get that done during the due diligence period, but we did not want to engage the seller in an offer (and the associated excitement) without knowing that (especially if we had to back out because of that). So I guess my suggestion might be some sort of streamlined process to get that done, since I know your drafters are/were very busy with other tasks. And again, our process may be different and unique.
Recognized Excellence - I would absolutely like to recognize Carol Autry for her exceptional service. When we landed on Brunswick Forest, Cameron became our sales rep, and he is awesome as well. However Carol had been back and forth with us for the 4+ years since we bought the lot in St. James, even going so far as to engage Ashley Kent in trying to develop a relationship with Ocean Ridge when we were looking at a lot in that subdivision. Carol never wavered on her commitment to customer service even though we were going back and forth about where to build, and her patience while we asked question after question, requested plot after plot, etc. was impressive. She made us feel like we were her most important customer even though we were years from actually building. Like I said, Cameron has been great, but we were saddened that we didn't get to work on the final product with Carol, just because of how she treated us throughout the early process. On top of that, I'd like to thank the entire Kent team for their professionalism so far.

She listened to our story, what we were trying to accomplish in this house, and made some recommendations, (all of which I took) and got us to an equally qualified and professional lender. She is amazing.

Areas Of Satisfaction - In every area. Again, I have built three homes and this experience far exceeds anything I experienced with any other builder. When I needed to see the house fit on the lot I was contemplating purchasing, I received three versions before the end of the day. That is just not seen in our current society.

Additional Comments - I have said this before, but it is worth repeating. I have had four homes built for me over the course of my life by different builders each time. Kent has exceeded them all by a very wide margin. it is unusual today to find a company that does what they say the way they say they will do it, in the time they say they will do it, and not only in the time, but sooner. This was a wonderful experience and a confidence building one. I could not recommend Kent any more highly. Give them a chance to earn your business and you will walk away with trust.

Employees & Subcontractors - All of the employees of Kent were stellar. All but one of the subcontractors was great. We had a HVAC issue right at the end of our first year. It was not handled well at all by the Contractor, not in communication, honesty, or timeliness. This was our greatest disappointment from the whole build. They did complete the repair, but it took a full month of bad communication, pressure, and frustration. We also ended up with a 600.00 electric bill due to running the emergency heat for a full month while waiting for the repair, and waiting on the next one that was also a partial month of emergency heat. But overall, the whole build was great.
Recognized Excellence - Yes Kate Dasilva was fantastic during the sales and planning process. Also Alina Aviles was fabulous during our selections, very knowledgeable and helpful all the way through. And finally Landon Choplin was our construction manager and he was so incredibly helpful and nice. I was there everyday checking behind him and he was never bothered, but very professional. We loved our crew, they treated our house like it was their own. Again you can’t go wrong with Kent.
Any Changes? - I would have added a wider driveway and larger parking pad.

Areas Of Satisfaction - Truthfully all of them, But if I am forced to pick one it would be problem resolution. In a project as large and costly as a home, there are going to be problems. Problems have solutions and sometimes they require give and take on both parties. It was refreshing and appreciated to find a builder that was willing to explore and talk about all solutions without requiring a fight. I had to give on a couple of issues and they had to give on a couple, but they both ended up with mutual solutions. A rare find today. Again, You can’t go wrong with Kent.

Salesperson Communication - Carol provided both written and verbal feedback throughout the process. She made herself available for multiple / lengthy conference calls to support our understanding and decisions.
Sales Knowledge - Carol knows the brand and the details well. For items or issues that were unclear, she took those back to obtain the necessary information and obtain the clarification we were looking for.
Sales Solutions - Carol presented solutions but she was also open to input on potential solutions from us.
Sales Problem Resolution - Buying a home can be stressful. There is always an opportunity for misunderstanding when it comes to details. She was patient with us and was able to address all our questions and resolve our concerns.
Preconstruction Budget - This wasn't hard -- given we didn't really apply a budget criteria. We just wanted to make sure we got the home the way we want it.
Understanding Of Cost - The challenge is always understanding what your final bottom line with be. While the pricing sheets that were ultimately provided are helpful, great clarity and specificity early on would definitely be more beneficial to the home purchaser to support there own pre-calculations.
Options - Given the homes are not fully custom but customizable to some degree, we feel pretty comfortable with the structural configuration of our forthcoming home to be. I do believe there are a significant number of options that will help further customize our home and recognize the challenges builders would have by offering cart blanch options. Given the list we've been provided, I am pleasantly surprised at the number of options that are available.
Value - We could have chosen a different builder and it could have ended up more or less expensive. That said, given the quality of the models and the general standard options, from what we have seen and experienced so far, we believe the value ratio is fairly high.
Favorite Design Feature (At Contract) - All of It!!!! The exterior board and baton, the porch, the 3 car garage, the elevation, and really all the layout and options we have selected!!
Customer Suggestion - Initially, I would say have a model with nothing but standard features available for comparison to a model with very common upgrades for potential customers to view. I believe this could be very helpful to many buyers.

Areas For Improvement - We are very happy so far. One possible area for improvement is what we suggested above regarding the pricing / option lists. Release it more freely and earlier to potential buyers. It may make it more efficient for some to make decisions, helping both Kent as well as the customers.

Orientation Punch List - We had one issue which was an inconvenience that we weren't happy with, which was receipt and installation of our hall shower glass. Our Project manager stayed in touch with us and the contractor however it was delayed past our move in and our guests visitation.

Bill the landscaper is not responsive and did not realize deer were around. We went to the site for an hour and a half and made a list of do's and don'ts, and when we got the proposal, it was not close to what we discussed.
From our initial look at a model to the selection process, everyone we dealt with was professional and the customer service was great.

From the first person we met Susan in the model we went by to see, we liked the home and the people. We felt that the people who worked at Kent were excellent. We had appointments with other builders that did not show up after we flew from New York. Cameron has been available to us and had Zoom meetings on the weekends. Alena was great and answered our questions about how we got to the price of certain things.
Customer Suggestion - In the selection process I think there should be a clearer explanation of how the stock items are replaced by an upgrade. I would like for it to show me how the stock item is withdrawn so I can understand the line items. We had one thing that I was interested in that was so much more money that I said forget it. It was hard not to be able to see things and why there were price differences.
Areas Of Satisfaction - The customer service exceeded my expectations, it is excellent.

Customer Suggestion - The structural contract was very confusing. What was considered structural and what wasn't? What could be chosen at Selections and what couldn't? Thoroughly and correctly presentation of these things to us upfront would have alleviated our stress in determining what plan to go with and what could/could not be included. It was much more time intensive for us trying to figure it out on our own, with too many questions along the way. We did get an explanation that made sense when we expressed our frustration. We had to review that contract very carefully at each iteration because things were not clear/correct. We did not know what we could do at selections and whether they would thoroughly present all the options/choices to us far enough in advance. This is a huge purchase and we wanted to be better prepared. In the end, there really are many more "changes" that we could easily choose than were ever told to us. If you would present things that can be changed and can't upfront, it would be so much less time-intensive and frustrating. **Bottom line: Give option choices before contract.
Additional Comments - So far (still before our Selections meeting), the selections team has provided us with good info. Great timelines for entire process (more than just selections), list of appt agenda with things to be decided, things that are commonly chosen, etc. Not sure why these things are not provided from the beginning.
Design Consultant Problem Resolution - Some issues just didn't seem to have solutions that were very satisfactory so that was probably difficult for Amy to navigate.

Recognized Excellence - Amy was so personal and friendly. She moved us through the process effectively. She gave her advice when we asked her - - that was very helpful. She was indispensable in helping us pick our paint and tile colors. Unfortunately our exterior paint color was rejected by the HOA.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Amy had such a great expertise in color, which really meant a lot to me as color is important to me.
Areas For Improvement - In some areas there didn't seem to be enough choices. The appliance experience with Kenny was not good.

Outside roofline trim paint is continuously mildewed -- neighbors with non-Kent homes don't have the problem. Finish details are poor pretty much throughout the house. Had to keep on top of PM and WM to keep the process moving. Landscape budget given is a joke.
We had a great experience with Kent Homes. From the sales of the home with Carol, to the project manager Archie, and the maintenance manager Randy. Everyone was professional, and they tended to our every need. They also took great care of our home.

Areas Of Satisfaction - The ability to make some custom changes to the original floor plan, vaulted ceilings, remove powder room and closet to make a drop off area from garage, the extension of the pantry by four feet as well as the extension of the garage by same amount. LVP, carpeting is great. Getting the garage floor finished was also good as we went with PM's recommendation.
Areas For Improvement - We did not choose to upgrade appliance, but maybe Kent can start using better appliances in what they offer as standard. Paint should be upgraded at the start so that if it gets a mark or scuffed it can be cleaned off rather than need to touch it up with additional pain.
Recognized Excellence - Amy, the sales person was great to work with, we understand that she has left. PM Chris Moore and Randy Parish were also very good to work with. And lastly, Alina, I thnk that was her name in selections was professional and very helpful.

Additional Comments - We absolutely love the Lumina model!! We are only disappointed in 2 areas—both in the lanai. But we must take responsibility for not reviewing the contract/plans in more detail. We had wanted the outside door in the lanai on the other wall (tv side). It’s going to make putting furniture in there a challenge with how it’s laid out now. And we had preferred telescoping doors onto the lanai. But we are unsure/cant remember if Kate said Kent no longer uses them ..? Other than that, the house is perfect for our needs and we cannot wait to move in !

Salesperson Communication - Kayla was warm, professional, and knowledgeable. When she didn't have answers to questions, she was honest and followed up with the information from those who could give the answers.
Sales Knowledge - Kayla is clearly experienced and knowledgeable about company policies. While Kayla never said anything, the market conditions suggest that company policies are changing. Kayla navigated and communicated them.
Sales Solutions - Kayla suggested the Jonesport when she realized our wants, ultimately saving us money. She never said "No" but explained why something could not be accomplished. She was clear and assertive in her communication style without being abrasive so that we could reach compromises when we had apparent difficulties. In short, Kayl always appeared to be finding the win-win both for Kent and us, the customer.
Sales Problem Resolution - Just, one example. Kayla was able to execute our site plan to fit our desires. We hope she or the Kent will communicate it to the ARC.
Salesperson Trust - Kayla always delivered what she promised ahead of promised dates and then called/emailed the ensured that we had received the items.
Preconstruction Budget - Kayla was instrumental in taking our needs and suggesting the model home that best fit those needs.
Understanding Of Cost - Until we get into the Selection Process so many of the items of the home are unknown. We are trusting and have faith in Kayla coupled with the performance that our friends received.

Areas For Improvement - Provide clearer understanding of the selection process.
Design Consultant Communication - Alina was extraordinarily communicative. She continually reiterated or clarified decisions and summarized our statements and her views. These techniques ensured that our preferences as well as our needs. When we faced what seemed impasses in the decision process, Alina seemed to restate the decision in a different manner so that we could view the options or selections in a different way. For example, we were having difficulty finding and selecting the backsplash tile for the kitchen. The challenge was two-fold: selecting the right color and shape while staying within the contract parameters. Her positive, "can do" attitude fostered facilitation of the situation. In addition, Alina didn't have an answer, she didn't hesitate to say so indicating that she would ask Kayla or management. An answer was always supplied after a break or the next day.
Professional & Organized - There are not enough stars to positively rate Elina on her professionalism and organizational skills. We were thoroughly impressed when we walked in the second day and our choices from the first day were laid out and clearly visible. We were impressed when the Addendum from the Selection Meeting was transmitted a day early. Again, we were surprised and pleased with how quickly Alina revised the Blue Print and the Addendum -- testaments to her professionalism and organizational skills.
Design Consultant Knowledge - Alina clearly "knows her stuff". She knows design, her product line, the Jonesport, the Kent processes, the building processes, and how to read people. And, how these elements interplay and intersect. Alina was able to capitalize on this knowledge and couple it with a knowledge of how to manage a meeting. She had a clear set of goals: meet the objectives of Kent and the objectives of her client customer.
Design Consultant Attentiveness - We were amazed at Alina's constant concentration, energy, and attention to detail. Again, there are not enough stars for this category for Alina's level of attentiveness.
Design Consultant Problem Resolution - We asked Alina to be our partner in the Selection Process. We needed her honest opinions to create a warm, welcoming, elegant home. She was our partner. She gave her opinion in a style that had our ears listening between her words assessing her body language as well as to what she said. As a result, there were no real problems just real opportunities to create that warm, welcoming, elegant home.
Design Solutions - When we show our friends our Blue Print and the pictures of our selections, most spontaneously used the words that we used...warm, welcoming and elegant. They are eager to come and visit and see the home that Alina and we created in the design process.
Design Consultant Accessibility - From my pre-Selection questions to the signing of our Blue Print in DocuSign, Alina was always accessible and responsive.
Selections Budget - This unfairly rates Alina....our selections were so far over budget and the decisions for cutting that had to be made were not ones that Alina could have made.....Jerry and I had to make some serious trade offs, cuts and give ups and changes in our priorities.
Design Consultant Trust - Absolutely, which is why when we went to High Pointe to buy our furniture and discovered that the green colors that we had selected for the interior wouldn't work because we had not considered our pictures....we simply emailed Alina and told her to select the grays for the interior. We learned during the two days of the Selection Meeting to trust her competency and her taste to meet our needs and wishes.
Options - While we were satisfied with most options, we were seriously disappointed with the limited number of lighting fixtures, tiles and countertop options available. Simply, the colors, shapes, and image of quality do not reflect the other Kent options or even the model, itself. Having redone the kitchen and 2 and 1/2 baths in our current home, we are aware of the wide range of lighting fixtures, tile and granite available. And, what was available in the Ferguson catalog. It was disappointing, what was available your showroom.
Favorite Design Feature (Selections) - Because Kayla clearly understood our wants and needs, she recommended the Jonesport as the best model for us. Because she partnered with us in the Sales Process, we trusted her recommendation. Because Alina clearly understood our wants and needs as well as the Kent processes, she partnered with us during the Selection Meeting. As with Kayla, by the end of the first day, we trusted her. As a result, there is no one feature that we are most excited about--it is the environment that is being created. We are enamored with the columns that Kent designed for us to welcome our guests. We love the bathroom and pocket door that creates a suite for any guest. Our fireplace wall should create a warm, charming environment for small get togethers. We will spend hours in our kitchen and pantry with the glass door creating delicious meals for ourselves and guests. The laundry room placement with our choice of cabinets will make everyday living easier. Our spa-like Master Bath will ensure that we feel that we are on vacation every day because of the cabinets, countertops, etc that were selected. Our engineered hardwood floors will enhance the warmth of every room. Our telescoping doors will ensure an easy flow into the Loggia from the Dining Room and Great Room as well wonderful holiday decorations.
Recognized Excellence - Both Kayla and Alina are professional, competent, trustworthy individuals who helped us to design a home that we are eager to move into next August. I think the explanation above and the previous survey provides the detail.
Customer Suggestion - Expand the lighting fixtures, tile and countertop options that are consistent with the Kent home image. The tile level in our contract was not appropriate for a Jonesport.
Construction Quality - There are so many instances of quality, let us just mention a few. When the foundation was laid, the crew continually checked devices to ensure the foundation was level and worked carefully not to have the cement spill over the lumber mold for the house. During the Pre-Dry Wall Approval Meeting, I was impressed with the quality of the overall build as well as the thoughtfulness of minor changes made. As one example, the trusses were clean like virgin wood because they had been protected from the rain and mud of the rainy weather. While standing in the attic, the trusses lined up like soldiers in the field at dress attention. The wiring was neat and well labeled, throughout. Electrical outlets were moved appropriately to accommodate the wood supports in the Loggia rather than drilling holes and compromising the structural integrity of the home. On two occasions, I watched as a supervisor carefully measured the widths and checked for "plumbness". The foundation in the master bedroom shower didn't properly slope to allow for efficient drainage. AJ chipped the concrete in the area and then repoured the concrete to ensure proper drainage before a problem surfaced once we moved in. Since then, we have been impressed with the dry-wall installation. Our neighbors text almost weekly pictures to share the status and to communicate how impressed they are with the build process.
Communication - AJ has extraordinary communication skills that are clear and effective. My husband and I have two different styles of communication and needs for information. It is interesting and a pleasure to observe AJ adjust to each of us even in the middle of a conversation. He always comes prepared with information regarding the build sharing both the problems and the progress. When there is a problem, he clearly communicates potential solutions accurately conveying the seriousness and need for attention. He always welcomes us on site or in the bi-monthly meetings. When I spoke with Suburban Propane, our Landscaping Company, and our neighbors, they all compliment AJ on his professionalism, articulateness, and follow thru: all of which we experience.
PM Expertise - AJ has the knowledge, proven experience, and personality for excellence in project management. Thru his bi-monthly meetings, AJ sets and manages our expectations both for the short and long term. He has never overpromised. He demonstrates an ability to negotiate or resolve hiccups/problems efficiently and effectively. AJ's problem-solving skills enable him to analyze the problem, seek out advise from more knowledgeable individuals, analyze the problem, oversee the solution, and pro-actively manage the process. Through conversations with our future neighbors and sub-contractors, it is obvious that he builds commitment within the team working on our future home. He clearly understands and communicates the interdependency in the workflow process so that the crews could follow thru while he was on vacation.
PM Professionalism - AJ has all the skills that we expected in our PM. At every step of this process, he has had the ability to communicate ideas and the interdependency of the steps of the workflow in understandable language. As we walked thru two of our on-site visits, the Pre-Dry Wall, in particular, his critical thinking skills surfaced. It was on full view, as we discussed the Engineered Retaining Wall that needed to be constructed: the why, the next steps, who needed to be included in the process, the barriers, etc. And, most importantly, he wasn't afraid to discuss it with us and was eager to embrace it because "it's not a problem that I've had to deal with before". He ruminated on another occasion on the tasks that needed to be completed so that workflow was not delayed.
PM Problem Resolution - We are aware of few problems during this process because of AJ's PM skills as well as Kayla's fabulous marketing skills and then Alina's skill in the Selection Process. The Engineered Retaining Wall gave AJ an opportunity to demonstrate his initiative, persistence, and creativity in problem solving. First, he actively listened to us before he spoke. Then, we walked the site together as he talked, explained, and pointed out the necessity for the Wall and the general layout of it. He indicated that he needed to do some research and bring in the firm we had agreed was best suited to build the wall before we made any final decisions. AJ included us in and guided us thru the decision-making process and now keeps us apprised of the Wall's status. Even texting the Army Corps of Engineers approval a few moments ago.
PM Professional & Organized - AJ is sharp and competent understanding the building process while implementing the guidelines of the Kent Building Process, of which he is proud. He is always courteous, conscientious and business-like while maintaining his self-assuredness and personality.
Understand Building Process - AJ clearly understands the Kent building process and seems to relish it.
Trust - AJ's integrity shines through on so many occasions and in different ways. AJ and I identified a few items needing change during the Dry-Wall Approval. Two or three electrical items needed to be altered or added. By 10 the following morning, an electrician was at the house adding the two missing garage pot lights. The following afternoon, the dirt at the back of house had been regraded. I asked for photos of the cabinets and tile. The next day, they were texted as promised. AJ conscientiously follows thru with the neighbors by sweeping all nails from the street and putting up reflectors so the trucks won't drive on their lawns because he promised and he cares about the environment.
Clean & Safe - AJ keeps the job site clean and safe.
Employees & Trade Contractors - All the employees and trade contractors of Kent Homes are professional, courteous, and conscientious. The gentlemen who poured the concrete went out their way to point where I should stand or indicate where I could place my hands in the concrete. The woman who sealed the stamped concrete in the Loggia and front porch educated us on the process with pride as she worked. An electrician smiled and indicated that he would "just be a few more minutes".
Overall Experience - We are constantly talking to friends and neighbors about how wonderful working with Kent Homes and AJ is. We point to the high quality construction, how impressed our future neighbors are, the beauty of the design, the follow thru on the implementation of the blue prints, the quality of communications, etc. etc. etc. We never tire of sharing the photos that AJ or our neighbor text to us.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Kent as an organization persistently and conscientiously exceeds expectations, in general. To name just a few areas: attention to detail, follow-up on daily basis, preparedness for discussions at the home site based on the blueprints, quality of build, follow-up on secondary contractors eg. landscaper, AV, and Suburban Propane, cleanliness of the work site, desire to have clients view work in progress. It is really too bad that our construction isn't finished because then I would be able to point out the strength of Kent based on the final house.
Areas For Improvement - Kent Homes needs to improve the breadth of the product offerings for tile, lighting fixtures, fans, appliances in the Selection Process. Quite honestly, we settled on all these. When compared to the quality of this Kent Home, they are disappointing.
Recognized Excellence - We didn't think that anyone could top the exceptional service that Kayla and Alina provided but AJ blew thru that high bar by fulfilling our needs and those of our future neighbors. AJ needs to be rewarded for his excellence.
Areas Of Satisfaction - At this point, everything is exceeding our expectations. We can't wait for the walk thru.
Clean & Safe - I was on the job site multiple times during the build with and without AJ's presence. I never felt unsafe. There was little debris even during the messiest of the job, eg sheet rocking and spackling.
Quality Of Workmanship - We are super satisfied with the quality of the workmanship. The beauty of the tile work and engineered hardwood flooring is superb. The paint edging even in uneven surfaces like the Loggia is commendable.
Quality Of Materials - Overall, we are satisfied with the materials used. However, there is room for improvement. The selection of lighting fixtures and tile are too limiting. Being familiar with both from our previous home and having spent time with Ferguson, we know that the selections offered are not at levels that one would expect from Kent. And, we know it is not from a cost issue. Likewise the paint suffers because it is 'builder grade' -- not washable.
PM Professional & Organized - AJ deserves 10 stars. Even our neighbors comment on his professionalism and knowledge. He always came to meetings prepared. When challenges surfaced, he came with options.
Communication - Again, AJ deserves 10 stars. AJ consistently adjusted his communication style. He would start at a macro or general level until he realized that we understood or wanted more detailed information. He was always eager to provide that information and satisfy our needs and wants. If we didn't understand, he was always willing to explain and educate us on things that we needed to know. He was able to move conversations along to closure and decision. When challenges surfaced, he was on the phone. "I just want you to know, so there are no surprises." was a phrase that we heard and knew that we had to listen and make a decision. AJ created and environment in which even the most difficult situation, the wall, could be understood, handled with integrity and quality.
PM Professionalism - Again AJ deserves 10 stars. First, AJ was professional enough to know when he needed additional resourses. When we experienced difficulties building the wall, he reached out to those who knew more or had more experience and brought that knowledge to the table so we could move the project forward. A mark of a true professional. It seemed as though materials and tradesmen were always here on time or earlier. eg when the foundation was being laid, when the painting was done, when the fencing was installed, etc. Again, the hallmark of a true professional. Because I was on-site more frequently than the sign offs mandated by the contract, I witnessed the quality of his interactions with tradesman and the level of respect that they had for AJ. He led the team. They told me on numerous occasions how good he was and how much they preferred working for him.
PM Expertise - Again, AJ deserves 10 stars. More than one neighbor has told us that they wish "I had AJ as a Project Manager. He was always here."

Areas Of Satisfaction - Kayla in the selling phase exceeded our expectations. We have the Jonesport that many have commented on because of it's beauty and its orientation. She teamed with us to make it happen. AJ was a dream come true because he made the build process smooth and fun.

Warranty Trust - He told us each time when he was going to be here with the team, and they showed up. If there were any problems with the weather, they called in advance to let us know there is a weather isssue, but they would be here for the first available time. They coordinated with us.
Recognized Excellence - We would like to recognize many people on behalf of Kent Homes for their exceptional servoce. Ashley, the business owner and President of Kent Homes, put together a team and book performance with a quality presentation of the process you will go through before you start to buy and build. It shows who is going to be responsible for it, and they also work with our bankers and whole team. Her process that she put together is extremely professional, knowledgeable, personally customer orientated, as well as they have a very quick response time for any questions that you have throughout the entire process. This came from Ashley and Tim, the Vice President of construction. The young lady who did the selections process was extremely forthcoming. We worked with her for selections, callbacks, discussions, and other concerns. She was extremely responsive. Nancy in the warranty department was receptive, and she continued forward to made sure to do everything we needed to have done in terms of warranty. The warrnaty manager, the guy who came out to make sure everything falls into what we specified in our contract, he went through piece by piece inspecting the house and made sure everything we had agreed to in our contract, happened. Also Randy, the warranty person, Kayla, our salesperson, there is so much to say about all these individuals! AJ, our project manager, was outstanding! He worked extensively that our neigbors talked about our project manager with Kent Homes. The project manager also helped us in terms of giving us a list of people to look at our landscaping and everything us we were doing remotely, so he managed, helped us, and made every 2 week conversation we had with the company, outstanding! I don't know how to relay how happy we have been with Kent Homes, maybe after our first bill. Ms. Corelli, who handeled all of the financial elements within Kent Homes, was always on top of things with the bank to make sure in the building process that the bank was notified with the proper paperwork to make sure the checks were going out to Kent. We got acknowledgement of payments we had to make directly both at the point of signing the contract and during the building process, so any element of Kent Homes was characterized by personal attention, professionalism, and constant follow through to ensure we knew what was going on and the process moved forward at all times. In terms of the contract information and all the documentation Kent Homes sent out in advance to let us know what was going on was extremely well organized and definitely customer centered. They did an excellent job! When some of our compatriats here at Compass Point saw what we had for a contract, they never got the details outlined with what we got in terms of the custom options and what would be covered in the building process. they did not get the contract plan review agenda, and they did not get the archietcural plan detail that we got. Otehr people are envious of what we got.
Any Changes? - We would change the area that we refer to as the back-forty because we did not complete the landscaping back there. The reason we didn't finish it was due to budget issues, but if we had to do it over again I would have done it. It also had something to do with the home itself.
Favorite Home Feature - We love everything about our new home! The openness of the plan and ease of working through the house. The layout is complimented by our neighbors and how the house flows. The glosia and walls for the glosia and everything we worked on with Kent are outstanding. People love the glosia (screened-in porch). We also like the attention to detail with the tiles. We like the overall architectural design of the house because everything is in the right spot to make living here easy, fun, and accommodating! Electrical sockets, laundry room, glosia, opening doors all in the right spot.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Every single one of the rooms met/exceeded our expectations.
