Worked with Dave Brock to analyze potential for solar on our house. The most solar friendly part of our roof is flat, and so we were hoping a ballasted solution would work for this. Dave determined that the roof was slightly too pitched for this option, and then helped provide caution to us about penetrating the flat roof material. In the end, we lost enough ideal solar area that we could not complete the project. But to have someone be so honest and forthright, work carefully with us to try hard to make it work, and be so patient afterwards - all of it clearly proves this company is doing things honestly and well. Our neighbors had an install with MSS and say things are working very well. So based on my own interactions and the opinion of my neighbor, I am confident this is a top-notch company that values honesty over completing a dubious sale.

I engaged with Michigan Solar Solutions to have a consultation done about the potential of my home to have a solar installation done, and had a consultation with Dave Brock in May of 2024. I was suspicious that due to our hipped roof, the old growth trees in our neighborhood, and the orientation of our home that there would be limited applicability of a solar installation on our property. Unfortunately that did indeed turn out to be the case. Dave walked me through all of the modeling, showed me via zoom the different factors he and the company use to evaluate the viability of sites, and even spent time with me working through different scenarios related to elimination of trees which could have a contribution to the efficacy of an installation. At the end of the day, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Dave tell me that he absolutely wouldn't recommend proceeding with a more detailed plan - it would be very easy to have taken somebody relying upon Dave and the company's expertise and ultimately making a sale for something which had a marginal or even poor potential for RoI.

As someone who does work in a highly technical field, I appreciated Dave's willingness to explain things simply but also to provide extra context and detail in response to my questions, where he was able. Given Dave's attitude I am, frankly, disappointed not to be doing business with Michigan Solar Solutions; however, I know that ultimately I will save money by just doing what I already am doing compared to committing to a solar installation, and I can pursue other avenues for energy savings.

I have enlisted Michigan Solar Solutions on two houses and with three phases on one house. My father and sister have also used Michigan Solar Solutions. Their business model is free to you solar: Dan Henderson will take your current electric bill and the light on your roof and figure out how many solar panels to install to maximize your savings. Your electric bill will go down by more than the monthly payment for your solar panel loan and there is no out of pocket costs to you at all. If your home can’t achieve that kind of savings — too much shade or other issues with your roof — Dan has the integrity to tell you that and recommend that you not move forward with the project. I strongly recommend going with Michigan Solar Solutions.

They ran the wiring incorrectly, and didn't have enough ground, which almost started a fire. They didn't run enough grounds.

Really happy with our Solar Installation in Grand Rapids! The system looks great, and the install was very clean! In general, having solar installed takes a while no matter who you use, and throughout the 6 month journey, I felt well-informed on where we were in the process, and the communication met my expectations. They took care of all the permitting, and inspections, and in my case, when the inspector required some tweaks to the installed system, they handled it quickly, and in the end, got the system installed just in time for spring.
I know there are a number of people at MSS that worked on my project whom I never met, and my hats off to them - but also special shout out to our install team, Kevin S, Kevin L, Leo, Jesse, Adam, and Steve - who worked hard, during the inclement winter weather to get my system installed, and respond to the inspectors requests. Also, they did a great job cleaning up after the construction was complete.
All in all, just really pleased with our new system, and have been generating lots of electricity with the sunny spring weather! Thanks MSS!

At the end of the day, now that all of the solar panels are functioning, I can say that I do recommend Michigan solar solutions, however, transparent see about the real timeline involved in setting up installation, and exactly what happens at each level of the installation, intra connection with DTE, and the overall timeline could be made much more clear from the outset.

Now that we've had time to adjust to some of the whims of the solar winter season, we're glad that we invested in a solar/battery solution.

The sales team was less than ideal to work with. Seems that communication is not a strong point. The install team was more along the lines of expectations.

Sales and Installation were 5 star, follow up after installation and responsiveness for service has been poor.

As you will see in the rest of the review, based off of the communication problems internally and externally, i would not recommend to a friend. That said I also wouldn't tell them to run the other way.

They were easy to work with, and very trustworthy.

I will suggest this company to anyone interested making their own small contribution to making this planet a better place for all.

Everyone I encountered at Michigan Solar Solutions was friendly and knowledgeable. The entire process was seamless and required very little work on my part. Their cost was less than another solar company that I received a quote from. I would work with Michigan Solar Solutions again and would recommend them to anyone interested in solar.

Efficient, informative and through service provider

Devices are still not working. Have not completed the full approvals and interconnect process yet.

All the positive experiences were wiped out after I made the final payment. No follow-up with DTE, the system did not work and was not ready when DTE did show up, no follow-up with the monitoring company, no responses to my emails and phone calls. So disappointed.

So easy to work with. They explained everything in great detail and the process was so easy!

I have already recommended to all my curious friends to go with Michigan Solar Solutions as I found the process to be very helpful and they did a lot to eliminate stress through the whole process.

I'm unsure. While the system ultimately works well, installation was delayed and problematic.

MSS did a very good job keeping to the schedule outlined when the system was ordered. And the installation was done in a timely, professional manner. The weakest part of the process was a lack of status reports between the time of the order to when MSS was ready to schedule installation. But calling and talking to people there provided the status.

This was my 2nd project with MSS. Everyone who works there keeps you informed of what's going on and if they don't know, they will find an answer for you. I do plan on using them for a 3rd project and maybe even a 4th project, but a 3rd one for sure. All the people are great to work with.

We never once felt pressured to purchase. We were given a variety of options to fit our budget, and we feel comfortable and confident with the well-informed choices we made. From the site survey to the final electrical installation - the crews were respectful of our home, worked efficiently, and cleaned up their work areas. The communication with the administrative/office staff has been wonderful - very responsive and proactive when dealing with our energy provider (DTE). I found the work done by Michigan Solar Solutions to be very commendable. I have and will continue to tell others about the work done for me. The installation here was a little complicated due to the placement on the panels (on an outbuilding) so there was more consideration of the wiring and PVC pipe placement. Everything went well, however, and if there was any real difficulty, I was not aware. The electricians made everything work. Just now, I'm waiting for the last steps with DTE paperwork and then I'll be mostly untethered from them. Thank you, Michigan Solar Solutions for making this big change happen for me!

Michigan Solar Solutions treated us very well, really knew how to get things done, and provided us with the state of the art system that we were looking for. Other companies were less responsive, gave us the sense that we were not a big enough client for them, and they did not seem to understand our particular needs. The installation experience with Michigan Solar Solutions went very smoothly, and so far we are very happy.

Michigan Solar Solutions was largely outstanding. The only negative was our sales experience I think. It wasn't awful or anything, Ryan del Gaudio was our sales rep. But after we signed the agreement I felt things just fell off a bit and it was frustrating for sure. We had the home inspection and out of it we decided to replace the electrical panel to 200 Amp and make some other improvements. The electricians quoted $2700 for the job, and that was all I got. On August 2nd I asked what that gets broken down by item, which isn't an unusual question, since we had the panel replaced about four years ago and it was about $1000. I thought it would be an easy question, and was being asked to sign an updated contract, but wanted to know what all was in that $2700. Two days later I asked if Ryan had heard from the electrician the cost break down, supposedly no answer. Two more days, and I had to follow up again (So it is now August 6th when I sent that question). It wasn't until August 9th, one week after I first asked what the cost breakdown was, that I heard back from Ryan. He said he got a response and it was just "There are various costs, like permits and inspection, and parts". Well, yeah, that is obvious but seems like he didn't actually ask. If I am being charged an amount then it had to come from somewhere, and $2700 isn't some insignificant amount, in a week I couldn't get a cost breakdown for the planned electrical upgrades, and I never actually did. I wanted this to move ahead so I signed the updated contract. But to say I was upset is an understatement.

There were other instances as well of no response to questions, requiring multiple follow ups.

These were small bumps overall in the over three months in all it took getting the system installed, and I know MSS has other customers. Everyone else I dealt with though as I said was great. I don't have much else to say aside from the notes I left below. I would still recommend MSS, just possibly look at having someone work with someone else on the sales front. I shouldn't feel like I am just tossed aside once the contract is signed and I need help.

I was extremely pleased with Michigan Solar Solutions and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I am very concerned about Climate change and felt that the efforts I was making to reduce my carbon footprint were not enough. Since installing my Solar Panels I have greatly reduced my electric needs, my last electric bill for Sept was $9.25 I feel that I am now doing my share to help our planet and the system is almost paying for it's self

Going into this there's a lot of bureaucratic comments in this day in age. As a homeowner, I didn't know where to begin with this project. They handled all of it for me and did it efficiently.

We have had our solar panels for about 6 months and are very pleased with their performance! They look great and our utility bills are much smaller. AND, most importantly, our solar panels are providing electricity without sending carbon into the atmosphere.

Michigan Solar Solutions did a great job with the installation, and as I am very technical (I'm an electrical engineer) I had a lot of questions. MSS answered them and allowed me to fully analyze if solar worked for me. Their sales person Brad was open and patient as I worked through my decision. Other companies tried to "sell" me on their solution with flashy logos and "deals", but hid a lot of information so I could not do the analysis. MSS gave me what I needed, and I would very much recommend them in the future. And when I was done, they were the best value for what I needed.

The installation crew was knowledgeable and excited about the project.
