To me, OC solar was just average. It seemed like every time i spoke to the solar installation team about scheduling that it was very chaotic.
The person was only able to give me very short notice of a proposed install date, sometimes only 8-12 hours the night before. That's not very good. The actual solar panel install team was pretty good. The roofing team (I got a new roof also) needs A LOT of work. The primary problems, were that OC solar doesn't actually have a roofing business and they subbed out the work to another company that wasn't well informed. They started putting the roof on wrong and only because I had gone through roof work before, did I catch the problems. The roof install team did not have good communication with OC solar management. Another problem was the roof quoting person at OC solar ignored my skylights that were at end of life, and I only found out about this issue during the install and it was too late for them to be replaced. Rotten wood trim pieces were only fixed where I could see them from below, leaving other rotting pieces unreplaced, which took months and months to replace, all the while i was bombarded by invoices for payment for a roof job that was not complete. The OC Solar rep even told me the contract that said rotten trim would be replaced didn't matter because the 'city' didn't require that. Really? I'm not stupid, but OC solar certainly treated me that way. So, after all the roof work, I'm still stuck with a roof project - the skylights. The list of install issues I sent to the OC solar roof representative was never responded to in writing - months went by. I would never recommend the roofing services of OC solar to anyone.
