Our overall experience (replacement of all wood lap plank siding and trim with Hardie) was great. As one example, for several weeks prior to project start, PSI was able to provide a protective covering for a deteriorating portion of the house, and then did a good job of repairing the underlying framing in that area prior to installing the new siding and trim. Their willingness to answer many detailed questions prior to and during the project was essential in helping us make material and color choices, and to better understand how the work would proceed and what would be required of us. In addition to the care they took in installing the siding itself, PSI work crews paid close attention to smaller details such as flashing around doors and windows and to the Hardie-recommended blocking for wall penetrations. They were attentive in addressing best ways to deal with sub-optimal features of the house framing, lighting penetrations, and attached structures. In addition, at their own expense, they fully addressed an unfortunate situation in which some custom hardware was inadvertently discarded by their crew, by sourcing hard-to-find replacement hardware and engaging specialists to install the replacements. We found PSI's communications and customer focus to be superior to other contractors that we have engaged, which was very refreshing.

Minuses: The job took way longer than expected and killed a large patch of grass next to the driveway. Most of the delays were weather related so were kind of expected.Pluses: Steve and Kathy were extremely responsive to my many needless worries and concerns. The entire job took longer which might have been a plus. We have an architect (works with contractors) who lives next door who commented that their work was meticulous and very well done. There were also some structural and insulation issues from when the house was originally built and their team improved on the poor design with cost effective solutions. The installation team was always courteous and friendly and aspired to make our house better in even the smallest improvements. Many neighbors have passed by since then and commented that the new siding is stunning and transforms our house nicely. I highly recommend the entire team.
