I highly recommend Smart Roofing Inc (SRI). Compared to other roof contractors that I called to give me quotes, Project Manager Isaac came in with his laptop and showed me their license, proof of general liability and workers compensation insurance. He had the Description Form/Scope of Work Estimate that has the list of re-roofing procedures from tear-off, replacement of all rotten wood included in the quote, to using a better underlayment, to installation of the shingles. SRI gives 10-year warranty on installation and is also a Platinum Preferred Contractor of Owens Corning, the manufacturer of the shingles that I want (which gives 50-year warranty). SRI also pulled the city permit and made sure the work passed final inspection before they picked up the final payment. Crew were professional. Melissa, the office contact person has a very nice personality and sent me all needed forms promptly including the invoice that showed my payment detail. The last e-mail was Owens warranty registration. Very organized. I am impressed with how smoothly the work got done!!!!!

Smart Roofing was great. Isaac, the project manager, bid the job and set everything up, including arranging to have our solar panels removed and reinstalled. Work started and ended when it was supposed to, Isaac was quick to respond to all texts we sent, and the workers were respectful of the property, cleaning up after every work day. We were impressed throughout the whole process.

Smart Roofing just did a very professional job on our 1913 Craftsman home in Los Angeles. We had a complete tear-off of old shingles, retaining the original closely-fitted 1x8 redwood plank decking which was in remarkably good shape. The few problem planks were replaced with new wood. Our detached garage had 20 year old OSB sheathing and that was retained as well. Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Cool shingles, tough synthetic underlayment and other accessories were installed.Dedicated hard work, expertise, and a lot of high quality materials made the project come together quickly and impressively. A few unusual, challenging spots were handled without issues. Here's a big shout-out to the team involved, which included Isaac, Edgar, Silverio, Florentino, several other workers, and of course company owner Levi and his wife Melissa. We're very happy with the results!Here are two points to keep in mind. First, these are big jobs with many elements coming together quickly, so good communication is essential. There might be something planned or desired which has slipped through the cracks (no pun intended). If you think anything may be getting overlooked or forgotten, be sure to speak up before it's too late.Second, ventilation is an important component of a roofing system, but not always a focus of roofers. Do some research beforehand, learn a bit of the science and theory behind it, and have a serious discussion before the project begins. In our case, with the additional knowledge I've gained in the couple weeks since the job was done, I would probably have chosen a slightly different placement and different number of new vents on the main house and garage.

Generally the roof looks great. We have a 2,800 sqft single story roof. Smart roofing works fast with their crew on the job site just two days with two additional days just for city inspection --- Day 1 tear off and sheeting / Day 2 city inspection / Day 3 shingle installation / Day 4 city final inspection. They replaced the rotten woods that I identified but I noticed some rotten wood later that was not replaced that I would have replace if the crew reported it even at additional cost. A twisted rafter identified prior to beginning work was poorly address and according to the foreman is the best they could do -- the twisted rafter is still visible. These issues may not have an effect on the roof integrity. I am banking on Smart Roofing credibility as a platinum installer for Owens Corning allowing them to offer better warranty as well as they are being audited for their workmanship --- a big factor why I choose Smart Roofing.

We were completely satisfied with the service from beginning to end. Everything was prompt. It was a very busy time. Initially, the date that they were going to be able to do the work was later. They got in touch with us and found a way to do it way sooner. They were really accommodating and professional every step of the way.
