I have nothing but positive things to say about Terry and the whole crew at Square Deal Construction Company. I know picking a remodeling company is a very hard decision for most people, it certainly was for me. You wonder if they are going to be able to see your vision, you wonder if they are going to care as much about making it as beautiful as you hope it will be. I can tell you that, as far as SDCC goes, the answer to all these questions is an unqualified yes. The work they did was beyond anything I had hoped for, and you could tell that they really, really cared about doing a quality job and making sure the customer was happy. The crew was experienced and knowledgeable--they were all craftsman at the top of their game. I made a couple (or more than a couple) of last-minute changes, and they were totally flexible and able to work them into their schedule very fluidly. Also, they were totally reliable. Every phone call, text, and email was answered promptly. They told you what they were going to do, and they fulfilled those commitments every time. After having some bad experiences with other contractors, that meant so much to me--I had complete peace of mind about the whole process. I really can't think of one negative thing to say; they are a superb company and they did a superb job.

Clean

Clean - They were doing a whole house remodel but it was still clean enough for my husband and I to continue to live there through the whole process! That's saying something!

Safe

Safe - I have four cats, and they made sure those cats were safe and sound throughout the whole thing. I had no worries at all.

Communication

Communication - This is a particularly strong point for them. Terry is fantastic at keeping the lines of communication open and flowing.

Shelby was just the best--her designs were amazing, she had everything so organized and put together, and on top of that she was extraordinarily helpful and patient with all my questions and worries. The crew was remarkable--Josh, Mark 1, Mark 2 and Paul are all very talented and skilled; they added touches that were not necessarily in the "contract" but made all the difference. Finally, Luke was just great at communicating the progress that was being made and keeping me updated on the financial part of things. They are all exceptional.

We have done several projects, actually we remodeled our entire 1906 era home, with Square Deal and have been extremely happy. Terry is respectful, honorable and he has an eye for interior construction design that makes the spaces just right. The team that he brings with him, including subcontractors, are also wonderful; they are responsive, friendly, and caring. The crew arrived on time, was mindful of the family space, and kept a very clean site. It was like having another family when they came to the house everyday. I have a wrap around porch project in the future and Square Deal will be doing it. Pease look on their website to see photos of our home.

Clean - The crew cleaned up every night and did the extra cleaning on Fridays so we could enjoy our space for the weekend.

Problem Resolution - During the pandemic, we had some issues with the bathroom shower glass. Terry and the team tried three or four different ways to get it here on time. I had a bathroom faucet in the shower start leaking on the first day we used it, it was a Sunday morning, Terry came over and fixed it. Great service!

Two reasons: Never heard them before, they were from out of town. 2nd: We didn't have hardly the equipment to do that type of shower works...onyx collection brand. They were one of the company does it. They had wider selection to look at. We normally don't hired construction company. We were very pleased with them.

Respectful - Every worker on the team was both courteous and kind. They offered to lend a hand if I was moving something heavy. And they greeted us with a smile. When they needed to contact us, they used texts if the question wasn't immediate, and called us only when necessary.

Communication

Communication - We had a couple major miscommunications concerning the design of the kitchen, where it seemed the crew leader hadn't really looked at the design or didn't understand the installation notes - and didn't ask us before building. Consequently, the island had to be rebuilt, holes cut through the flooring in the wrong places had to be repaired, and the refrigerator housing had to be rebuilt. Fortunately, Square Deal took full responsibility and in the end the kitchen is exactly what we wanted!

Quality Of Materials

Quality Of Materials - I took off a star here but the things that were questionable were not Square Deal's failing, but the cabinet manufacturer's (Design Craft). One cabinet drawer had to be replaced due to a crack, and another drawer unit with an fancy insert was replaced twice. One of our upper cabinets with an appliance garage was replaced twice before we got one that was made correctly. The sink we chose arrived with a crack that wasn't noticed until nearly installation time but Terry was able to get them to expedite a replacement.

Problem Resolution - No big project is without some issues, and ours was no exception, but at every turn, Terry took ownership of the problems, whether they were caused by his crew or his material providers, and worked to be sure the problems were fixed and that we were completely satisfied.

Professional & Organized - Square Deal was a joy to work with. they gave us access to an online portal so that we could see pictures of the project in process, or communicate with both crew and office staff easily. They were also receptive to communication via text or cell phone when there were concerns, or issues that required quick action. They also put us in touch with materials providers who helped us to make our decorating choices. We borrowed endless flooring and carpeting samples, and were able to go to the countertop company to pick our top by looking at whole slabs instead of just small pieces. They were also willing to use materials vendors with whom we already had experience. They were very flexible and I think all parties involved who viewed our project felt proud of the final result.

Value - We remodeled the entire house, and I won't lie - I thought the estimate was really high. Then we started pricing the individual pieces and realized we were remodeling THE ENTIRE HOUSE!! Well, this is what we wanted to make our home the one we'll enjoy together. We asked for great quality, but not upscale glitzy stuff, just real quality materials. Ultimately, we got our money's worth. Our home is beautiful and feels rich, warm and welcoming.
