We found the design center experience to be too much at one time and too far away, and we were not told of everything we could have gotten. For example, drawers on the other side of our island, moldings around the windows. These were options you had to pay for but they did not give us the options. The design center did not seem as connected with the sales center. We had to incur an expense to change the hardware on the kitchen cabinets from grey to black. They wrote the wrong color down in the design center. The problem was the abbreviation, AG, that caused the discrepancy. The design center experience could have been a little more user-friendly and closer. We had to pick everything in one day. They need to be more client-friendly about the design experience.
Generally I am very happy with my new home. There were several issues that required some type of repair and most were addressed in my first year of ownership; however, there are a couple that have lingered since my pre-close walk through. I hope these will be satisfactorily addressed along with the newer issues when I have my 12 month warranty appointment with McKee next week.
Don’t know until all of problems are addressed
The quality of the home is great and they kept their promise in terms of finishing some last minute minor fixes.
Excellent construction quality
Very responsive
Overall I’m really happy with my house!
It has been a very difficult year for us working with McKee. The experience of selection with the subcontractors was the worst we experienced. The house was built with little supervision and quality control. The finishing work was shoddy. The painting was horrible.
We are very pleased with the overall construction of the home. However, there are a few quirky design choices that don't seemed well thought out. We can't rave about the customer service, communication, and follow-through. I keep wondering why we seem to fall through the cracks. Is it bc we bought a quick sale home and didn't go thru the design choices process thus getting to know the staff better? Maybe we just aren't on your radar. But we've consistently been ignored or canceled on whenever we reach out. That's made what should have been the thrill of our lifetime a semi-negative experience..
Working with the McKee Group has been such a pleasure. I would highly recommend them.
They do good work, and they stand behind their product. Whenever I have an issue, they always fix it.
In the scheme of today’s challenges to find good hired help, McKee tries their best but would be nice to see more consistency and attention to detail.
McKee was great to work with, timely with responses and easy to contact.
The overall quality and team can't be beat.
They provided nice designs and were helped with remediating problems
Selection and oversight of their vendors is sub-par. Quality control is poor, correction of problems identified takes months. 1 year after closing we are still waiting for repairs to be completed. They run hot and cold when it comes to follow-through. Are they worse than other builders? Probably not, but they have not proven to be better.
Lisa, Margaret and Meghan have been great to work with throughout our buying experience.
Had many issues to go into! But some started when we originally agreed on the unit we selected! We were told that we max the size we could build after months we found out we actually had another 5’ on the rear,? We wanted to make the extra screen porch bigger and we’re told we couldn’t?? Actually we could of went back 5’ more! Which we would of done! Another real problem was that most of the contractors were Subs! Some worked sunup to sunset 7 days a week! The managers of McKee I guess let these Subs work with no supervision while the subs worked those late nights & weekends ?? I had some very serious issues happen because of this, with serious damage to equipment which had to be replaced! I hired a outside company to go over everything & many things had to be fixed orreplaced! Even Mold ! Replaced Concrete driveway because not installed correctly! There on site 2 guys were very friendly & did their best but they had a full plate! With others! Being a track type of home I did very much like that they were willing to make & add many upgrades & changes! Saying that they because we added so many changes & upgrades we feel that they were not fair on any credits!! So many things that was included that they didn’t have to do labor and materials!! Absolutely no credit back ! I guess enough said!
All problems handled promptly, courteously, and very satisfactorily.
Overall I would recommend McKee because of the sales team, the project manager and quality of materials used.
Our home was one of the last 6 built of a total of 273. Some of the same warranty issues were made with our home as were with the first 267. You would think after 267 the builder would have learned how not to have those issues
My biggest sore point was that after deciding to ad a porch wee asked for a change to a sun room instead of the porch. We were past the deadline for making a change and our request was denied. However, no construction was started for many months afterward. They could have done the change in my opinion.
They have been a pleasure to work with.
We were well informed each step of the building process. The sales center staff were wonderful as were the design center personnel. There were many home styles to choose from and they were all great choices!
I like the community concept overall, but lack of timely warranty work makes McKee look like they do not stand behind their product and have no regard for customer satisfaction.
The homes are fine, stop pushing the “preferred mortgage lender” thing.
