Kevin Taylor was called to my elderly dad’s home to give an estimate and recommendation for a ramp to go down where there are three steps. His website states right away that respect and communication are key values that the company embodies. I did not find that true at all in my three communications with Keven. He was insulting and also insistent that he get a deposit AT THAT FIRST VISIT, even before getting an estimate. Kevin seemed to focus on getting the money. I explained that I would need a written estimate for gaining permission for my dad’s long term care insurance to pay for the ramp. When I asked him to explain the project to my dad Keven suddenly said a wheelchair lift was what was needed. I agree that was a good suggestion. I asked that he email me an estimate. Kevin again said if I wanted his company to do the work he needed the deposit at that minute. I got a one sentence “estimate” the next day with a phone call saying he wanted to stop by for the deposit. The “estimate” only said, and I quote, “As discussed, we advise installing a lift for your dad in the garage, and we could install it for him for $16,550.” There was no explanation of what unit would be installed, what the labor cost would be, how it would be installed or anything. When I said that to him and asked for details in an estimate he said, I’m sorry that’s not the business model I use. He also said he would not sit to be paid the deposit (up to 15 days, but possibly within a week) so I could wait to hear back from the insurance company. I’m sure Taylor Made does great work, but his sales pitch model seeded like someone trying to take advantage of the elderly!
They offered amazing customer service and worked with our budget.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied with the quality of the workmanship.
All around great job from Taylor Made. I was extremely pleased with the job and the process. They made things easy, made useful suggestions, and completed the work on time. I would definitely work with them again on future remodeling projects.
Taylor Made Custom Contracting, Inc. has been my contractor of choice for more than 20 years and will continue to be my first choice.
Working with Kevin and his crew from Taylor Made, to remodel my 1959 home, was a wonderful experience. The first thing I noticed about Kevin, and the reason I selected Taylor Made, was his ability to see and hear the vision I had for the remodel. In addition to that, he continually offered suggestions that would help make my vision a reality. Kevin continually kept me up to date on the remodel's progress and always had quick and thorough answers to my questions, extremely valuable qualities for this project, since the remodel was done long distance. When I had the opportunity to stop by and see the remodel in its early stages, I was extremely impressed by the quality of the work. It was easy to tell by the initial demo and framing that the work was top notch, with excellent craftsmanship. When I had to leave, I knew my remodel was in excellent hands, and that proved to be the case throughout the project. There were several pieces of this project that might have been challenging, but in every case Kevin was able to make my vision a reality. By the time the remodel was done, I could truthfully say that Kevin and his crew had made my entire vision a reality. I was thrilled with my new home and knew that the job was well done and to the highest standards. Thank you Kevin and crew!!
I thought they did a wonderful job!
They are very good to work with. I wish I could rate them higher. They are very professional and all were very skilled at what they were doing.
In the end a great result and we are very happy with our newly renovated basement but need to work on communicating more effectively with the home owner and project manager.
I've had several projects done by TMCC and have never been disappointed. I recently had the total 'envelope' of my house re-done. Kevin (owner) recommended additional insulation as the original wrap was 22-years old and a new insulation (waterproof and also works as underlayment for the new siding) was added. We went with 'new installation' style windows (solid vinyl, coated on both interior glass panels to help with energy efficiency). We changed out a roof over the dining room bay window and instead of keeping the exterior walls of ivory trim around the window, changed it to be covered with the siding. We replaced the window style over the open two-story foyer, taking it from an in-accessible double hung with two sidelights to a solid window with pane inserts. All window work was completed with a waterproof wrap that went from the exterior to inside the window framing, to ensure there would not be any water damage to the framing structure. They re-constructed dormers that were starting to have rot issues (due to the original home builder not doing proper flashing) and replaced the trim around these dormers, creating a lower- maintenance for me. We also added decorative scalloped siding to the gables. Where the scalloped siding merged into the lap siding, new trim was planned out and covered with an aluminum wrap that matched the siding, so as to provide a 'separation' between the two siding styles, without having an eyesore of another ivory trim between them. We installed new and larger gutters to handle the run-off from my very high-pitched and steeply sloped roof line, and of course new downspouts to help with this. A lot of trim work was completed. His workers were able to clean - sand and repaint the trim, re-hang shutters and made it look absolutely perfect. New house lights and driveway pole light put the shine on the project. After all of this window and 'envelope' work has been done my house looks like it's brand new, and exactly how I envisioned it in 1995 when it was built.
Areas Of Satisfaction - The skills of his employees and their desire to 'make it right' as if it was their own home. They were respectful of our property, polite, quiet (helpful to us & our neighbors) in the early mornings and cleaned up at the end of each day.
Recognized Excellence - Chris Jernigan and Doug -- both are exceptional at what they do.
Recognized Excellence - Andy and Craig. All the guys were great.
Already have.
I am extremely pleased with what they did. It was a fantastic job.
