Were the gutters included in a line item on the proposal or contract?
Hire a structural engineer to determine if there is a problem that needs fixing. If there is he will give you a report and or drawing detailing what to do. Then call 2 or 3 Class A Building Contractors who are in good standing with BBB, DPOR, have sent you certificates of insurance and current references have checked out. Give them each a copy of the engineers report so they know how to qoute the work and go with the one you feel most comfortable with.
Use plumbing soder that comes in a roll. Break off a piece and put in the hole then put the screw back in.
That is a great questions, you have several options.
First, I usually recommended allowing the deck to weather for a few months. This gets rid of some of the surface chemicals used in pressure treating lumber thereby allowing a better adhesion of your deck paint or stain. If you do not want to wait you can power wash the deck but we have had less success with this option as it sometimes ends up “splotchy”.
Next, there are many great products on the market, our company uses Sherwin Williams “Super Deck” but other painting companies have great products as well. I would stay with a better known company such as Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. In my experience the quality is definitely better.
Finally, realize that you will need to remain proactive with your deck. Inspect it every year to see how it is holding up and whether you need to make repairs or reapply your stain. We have found that stains last about 2 years and deck paints 2-3 years despite what the manufacturer states.
I hope this helps
If you simply want to color them, Old English does a great job. Bona wood floor cleaner is the best out there. Hardware stores should have both.
Our tile contractor installed tile over his with a hardwood stained bullnose and backsplash. He went with an 1/8" grout line and used epoxy grout. It looks great!
We have installed two SimpliFire electric fireplaces. One was in built in cabinetry with shelves on both sides and the other one was in a fireplace. They are very efficient to run and put out great heat. They also come with a remote control to turn it off and on and to change colors. The crystal rocks put off beautiful colors. The model last used is SF_WMS38-BK. I would recommend consulting with a Class A Remodeling Contractor who can work with his electrician for a professional and safe installation.
Attached is how we used it on a Fix It & Finish It tv show.
