My handyman recently shared with me that he thinks I have some structural damage in my basement from a minor flood a few years back...
(i.e. a large crack in the cement that runs across roughly half the floor and up towards the ceiling.) How serious might this problem become if unchecked?

I agree that you need a structural engineer. The longer you wait the more damage that could occure if it continues to move

I would recommend hiring a structural engineer to review and recmmend repairs not something you should let go.
